You probably read the title and was like "Why?" We'll I don't mean with a pickaxe. If you were to use your fist to break a cracked stone brick block, it should go a tad faster than breaking a normal stone brick block with your fist. Do people agree? Btw, HAPPY NEW YEARS [insert fake horn noise here]!!!!!!!!
Also, my reason behind this is: it is cracked, so it would be easier to break. For example, you have one cracked brick and one brick in mint condition. Throw them both on the ground. The cracked one is more likely to break.
This makes sense, although I'm not entirely it's feasible.
Stone bricks, mossy stone bricks, cracked stone bricks and chiseled stone bricks all share the same block id, and have different "damage" values that makes them look different.
Sharing the same id means that they also share every other property, like hardness or flammability. this used to be a problem with wooden slabs until they go their own block id (that it now shares with the other coloured wood slabs).
Unfortunately, this means that, unless cracked stone brick are given their own block id (not likely to happen), this isn't really possible

Yeah, this is one of those minor ideas. Maybe as a part of a bigger mod
It would be nice, it makes sense, but it isn't necessary. At the moment, Mojang AB isn't worried about this stuff. Additionally, Stone Bricks share the same item ID. This means, they will all act the same but will look different (do to different damage levels).
Great idea, but probably not on top of the list.
