during this discussion we will be talking about sunken ships/shipwrecks possibly being added into minecraft, so this a petition of sorts, so follow this topic if you'd like to count your "vote" of sorts.
now on to what these shipwrecks would look like and include, and where they would spawn. if you believe that these idea's should not be then, please say so in a reply post.
anyhows, the Shipwrecks would spawn in a shore or an ocean biome, or possibly a new biome like a rocky shore biome. the whiprecks would be either be underwater, or stuck on a rocky platform.
the chest(s) inside would include the basic rare items such as gold, emeralds, diamonds, and enchanted books. it would also probably include things such as iron ingots, bones and rotten flesh. basically everyting that is in Pyramids and Jungle Temples, but hopefully in larger quantities.
i assume that the shipwreck would look like this: tattered looking wool sails and a damaged hull. part of it would be underwater, and like Jungle Temples and Pyramids there would be multiple chests, and also would be concealed.
that's what i have in mind! please follow this thread if you want this to happen!
I really like this, as the above people have sated it has been requested before.
Having shipwrecks at the bottom of the ocean would be awesome, they would give a more specific use for aqua affinity and would just look cool in the scenery.
Supported.
thanks guys, and yes i realize that it has been suggested before, but i would like to be more proactive about it, cuz this would be one of the coolest structures yet. also i've seen posts that have suggested cannons, which would be interesting to see implemented, seeing as how TNT is already in vanilla Minecraft. however, if redstone turntables, rotators, or something similar were implemented with the update that we would see the cannons in, turrets could be made, which would also be interesting.
I think boats would have to be introduced before we begin sinking them.
Yeah, this was what I was thinking too. It would sort of be annoying seeing something that the player themself can't build broken down in the middle of the ocean. It would remind me we have only basic looking boats, even though steve is suppose to be the master of his world.
Not that I hate this idea entirely, although i don't like the idea of making a new biome just for ship wrecks. I'm also a little wary of any sort of abandoned structure being added as we have so many already. that I wouldn't want the world to become too cluttered.
This would be a great idea. Ships could have a few sunken rooms in their cabin perfect for under the sea exploration. Players could craft diving suits and collect rare treasures like pearls from dangerous giant clams and gold coins from chests. Most of all it would provide the perfect opportunity to add new treasures to the game and finally add hostile water monsters like hammerhead sharks. (Its so easy to survive a night in Minecraft currently, just grab 500 pieces of pork and go for a dive in the peacefull ocean where no hostiles can spawn.) Coral and sponge could finally be implemented. Maybe add jelly fish. There would have to be a chest, where, when one opens it, a deadly curse is unleashed and an undead skeleton crew would rise from the murky depths. I don't know. It would be cool if oceans became a little more interesting.

the rocky shore biome have to be a sub biome.
