TL;DR
A BUD switch block that can sense Tile entities and other block-related values.
I don't know all that much about the Redstone update (1.5), but I've heard that the BUD switch bug/functionality will be removed to be replaced with an actual block. Currently, the BUD switch can only sense changes in a block ID, so any time a block changes to a different block.
This is extremely useful in all kinds of redstone creations, but it has a limitation; BUD switches can't sense changes in Tile entities, opening GUIs, a jukebox stopping it's song, etc.
I propose that that the new BUD switch block be able to sense all these things, so when you open a chest, or when a Furnace runs out of fuel, or a brewing stand is finished, a BUD switch would notice it.
Alternatively, have a block that acts like the modern bud switch, and another that reacts to tile entity changes.

Mojang has said they may add a BUD block, which they should. BUDs will not be removed, but they will be severely effected by the changes. That 'maybe' needs to be turned into a yes. But do you have any idea on how you would craft this.
I would already have supported this otherwise, but the addition of the ability to trap/alarm chests really seals the deal for me. Full support.

"Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled Trainers should try to win with the Pokémon they love best."
Dinnerbone said they were gonna put a new ore in the nether for crafting the comparator, maybe once we find out what it is, include that in the recipe. https://twitter.com/...366449420673024
Right yes, as it is only currently used in two recipes. However I do think that the crafting recipe should be up to developers.

Support, 100%
Not really... probably something involving a redstone repeater (positioned in the grid so that it appears to be "sensing" an adjacent block.
Possibly, when the revile the new ore, include that?
I don't think I understand what you mean..
