This can be a mixture between a question and a suggestion. This is a long one, so for you TL;DR'ers, I'm sure you got better things to do.
As a veteran Minecraft user, I have some guilty pleasures of having to mod my games, in fact, some features where so good, that I thought “Why aren’t they actually in the game?” I’m tired of having to wait till mods update, sometimes its instant, but other times we all Have to wait for very long times. It depends on the time, and what exactly the mod is. There are many small, entertainment mods, but there are many mods which changes the game… Some of my personal favourites are Smart Moving, it’s practically an essential for me now, and I’ve been with Minecraft from when it was still in alpha.
We all know that the developers of Minecraft have their hand filled with their own ideas, fixing up the game and making sure it works right. The thing is, these mods are already made to work alongside Minecraft, with a few edits, Player API, FML (Forge Mod Loader), so already, work for it has already been done for it, which would minimize amount of work for developers to pretty much implement it into Minecraft as an actual system which needs no Modloader, we don’t need to have it for servers, and we don’t need to wait till Bukkit servers become compatible with forge or player API or any of the little extras we need to get the famous mods to work to begin with.
Why hasn’t Minecraft implemented climbing and crawling when you are able to walk, jump, sneak and sprint? Why does it not include copper and steel when we have Iron? Why do we need to mod it to include fixes, or upgrades to make something better? Why it is Opti-fine works and actually increases performance and allows for more in-depth edits of video options? Shouldn’t that actually be in the game? When we need to mod the game which would increase performance, for a game which isn't exactly represented via money hungry s like Activision, can’t it be implemented on every update? There are a lot of mods which drastically changes the game… Aether, Tekkit, etc., they can stay as mods for they require more work, but I’m talking about smaller, easy mods, Inventory tweaks, Smart Moving, that metallurgy mod. I’m sure some of you guys have smaller mods which makes you go “Damn, why this isn't in the actual game”. Expesially mods which don't change the feel of the "survival" aspect of this sandbox game. Mods which help with the exploration, mods which help with organization, mods which help for practical performance to run the game. Why aren't they in it?
You see, I don’t know what goes on when the development of things for Minecraft go on. But I also don’t get why haven’t they looked at mods and said “We should ask thatModder if he will develop it to be implemented in are game as a standard system, that person already went out of his way to make it so we don’t have to.”
"What about the implications," you ask? I don’t know. Maybe the download takes several seconds longer. Perhaps the update takes a day longer. Snap-shots may be reworked because more data needs to be updated and rewritten for perhaps optimization.
"But hey, I don’t like [insert mod here] and find it completely ruins my Minecraft experience." Well the developers of Minecraft could add an option to disable it. Or don’t use it; Minecraft will play like the ol’ Minecraft you know if you simply don’t use it. Perhaps a pole can be done, every now and then for the next small, but famous mod to make it in actual Minecraft coding, and become a staple in its already varying edges of fun stuff and systems.
“Hey, isn’t a mod API coming out to make Minecraft easier and more capable for modding? “ (At least, I heard of it) Well Yes, but I’m doing this for smaller, seemingly essential things that I find should have been added in the first place. The Mod API will most likely make your big game changing mod happen more efficiently, and be more compatible with all sorts of other mods. However, you still need to go out of your way to mod Minecraft to do so. That, I believe (don’t quote me on it) will allow for very in-depth game changing of Minecraft, and not simple tweaks and extensions on the idea which Minecraft has already had in place.
“But hey, there’s countless other great mods for other games, and is not part of the actual game despite its popularity” Well Minecraft is still a game that’s being made. You’re only ever playing a demo, because there’s going to be a next version with something added. You paid full price for this game, and still getting “DLC” for free. SO why not include community made “DLC’s” with systems thought of and created by other people. Give them credit for it, or maybe a prize for actually going out of their way, and making a system to improve or expand on your experience of Minecraft.
“Mojang already has enough to deal with; as Minecraft itself still includes a lot of changes from the past, adding more things for the developers to work on would be more difficult and time consuming”
I’m sure it can work out, with minimal or tolerable difficulty, and with permission from the creator of said Modder. Perhaps said Modder could work alongside Mojang if he/she so wishes reducing the load. Mojang is creating these mini DLC Patches for free essentially, for a game you bought already. They are already willing to work with the load they have, and I’m sure they are dedicated to making their consumers happy. If you so wish it, I’m sure they will do it, for you have bought their product. While, yes, its theirs and they can do what ever they want to it. But you as a consumer are an important aspect in the games success, so not simply someone to ignore, when angry.
So in conclusion… Why aren’t these small, practical mods, example can be smart moving, inventory tweaks, and Opti-Fine of all things, Why aren’t the seemingly essential mods (the only big one I know is Metallurgy) are not an actual thing in Minecraft! I would find perhaps more emphases is need on “mine” then being more of a “craft” (build). I’m sure there are also so many good mods out there that I feel disappointed that it’s a “mod” but not an actual thing. Why do you not host a daily pole, find out what people like the most in their Minecraft experience, and then add it in. I’m not talking about Fly Mods, or TMI mods, or x-ray. I mean mods which add to the game, but you still need to work and use it to get through the game.
This is made by a person with very limited knowledge on game developing, and does not actually know what goes on in these mods, or the updates and patches of video games, or what goes on in studios. If at any point I sounded ignorant, I did not mean to, and was only offering an idea/asking a question that I felt was needed to be pointed out. I simply got this idea after waiting days and days for player API to be updated so I can make and use my own server with the mods I love to use in Minecraft. I only use small, mods like smart moving, CJB mods, Inventory tweaks, Mini-map mods, TMI, for they became an essential to enjoy Minecraft anymore. This is entirely out of opinion, however I am strongly curious on why Mojang, haven’t considered of using the works of players, whom has very good ideas and has made unique extensions, optimization, and fun stuff to Minecraft which improves my overall experience. I am very well curious on why this whole ordeal has not been thought of or even done, and would like to hear “why” it hasn’t. It really rustles my jimmies on why all these create small editions are mods and not actual things in Minecraft.
Thanks and have a nice day: D
Ps: Sorry, I wasted a lot of time writing this, and making sure I am grammatically correct and that I’m not ing off any grammar Nazi’s out there. I may have missed a few minor things, and made spelling mistakes so I’m sorry. I already made several after-post edits as it is. I’m trying to simply get out an opinion, which is free to criticism.
Optifine devs. don't want it in vanilla. Some people may not approve of the mods you suggested (myself included). The mods you chosen seem to be heavily biased toward the ones you use. Wishlisty...
No support.

Hey, if you want to make sure I saw what you said, quote me on it.
Basically what this can be condensed to is that you want more mods added to the game, with an option to disable them, because you want more features in minecraft and dislike waiting for them all to update every time a new release comes out.
I like that you took the time to fully articulate your idea, but sometimes detail becomes excessive. Mods have a purpose in that they greatly diversify what can be done for players that aren't totally satisfied with the vanilla gaming experience. However, a mass induction of mods into the game is not only not incredibly feasible, but also not something that would end up being good for the game. Some mods (at least the ideas behind them) have been added, but a mass introduction of more mods would not end up benefitting the game. No support from me. While getting better software in minecraft to make updating and adding mods easier is good, adding a bunch of mods would not be a good thing.
If you really want a specific mod in the game, make a suggestion about it.

A big wall of text just to say "I want a few mods in the game". They're mods for a reason, if it gets popular enough the mojang staff will notice it and if they like it they will ask the creator to implement it. They asked optifine and the creator declined.
Lets see First PencilShavings. The Idea came form the fact I am baised towards what mods I use, however that is not the case. Any other seemingly essential mods could infact be used, depending on what It does. I only ever use small amounts, and ones I have known about, so I talked about those. I never knew about the creators of Optifine declining to add their improvement into actual minecraft. It seems kinda counter productive for somethign which increases performance and overal quality of minecraft... but thats again ME.
ErasmoGnome. I like you, at least you seem to have understood some of my points. Some though. I know what mods do, and why they exists, but I was talking about really small just simply system mods, I dont know how many exists, out of my small biased uses of mods. ( I only ever use a small amount) but im su re theres many out there which I feel should actually be implemented. I would suggest them as actual features however they are available as mods. People would just say "Well hey, its a mod, go download that and stop bugging the developers" Pencilshavings had a point about me being biased, and I knew I was, but thats how I got this whole question about. I didnt feel like giving you guys an essay to read so I tried to condense the idea behind it, which sadly, I failed to do since some isnt exactly getting the whole point im trying to make. Doesn't matter though. At least i tried right?
Mods are mods, when they are huge changes. When they fix something or add something ever so small, in comparison of... im sorry for again the biasedness, comparison of Tekkit. (Its the only other big mod I know, but dont use). Its already sad creators of optifine wish to keep their thing out of vanilla minecraft. I woulda said other wise for other specific reasons but then again IM just no different from a useless person, just a plain consumer with no talent in modding. I dont watch everythign either, nor do I have time to stalk this site. with 30 minutes of research i came to the conclusion no one really asked this question, so here I was , asking and getting my answers.
Not really answers on why, but mostly answers on why it isnt being done for the mods I talked about.... I treied my hardest to write something people could understand (and I have fairly big difficulty in doing so) and making my opinion understood.
I got half of my "question" answered so thanks guys.
Are their mods I want in the game? Yes, optifine inventory tweaks, stuff like that. Mainly the way you presented this disagreed with my insides. If Mojang was to even consider adding mods, a HUGE poll would probably have to be taken. If there was a thread for the addition of mods with a poll of the mods suggested in the OP, I would be more likely to support that that a wall of text like this.
