what minecraft needs (well maby not need but is okay for adventuring) is more tools. tools like a lantern also something like waypoints. (maby a G.P.S. ok thats to overpowerd) these are my suggestions that i think are great
No GPS... XD I think Minecraft shoud NEVER have a GPS xD However, I think that lanterns would cause tons of lag, but im not shure, I cant program
i know no g.p.s's thats to over powerd not sure about way points though but laterns would just be like a torch on your head powerd by coal not that much lag on my logic (lag is caused by to muxh or to much detail going on)
I do support something like a torch or lantern being added but allow me to explain why it would cause lag if done improperly.
The reason why torches don't illuminate the world around you when you hold them is because a moving light source in the game would cause a large amount of lag. That's because the game's lighting engine would have to update each tick so that the light around you could match where you are. It puts too much stress on the game basically because the game is constantly trying to keep up with you (20 times each second) lighting everything around you. Through in things like smooth shaders and reflections and the game just can't handle it.
However lanterns and dynamic torches are possible, however they work client side, not server side. That basically means that it looks like things are lit up, but the game doesn't actually change the light levels. This isn't optimal but it is less laggy.

Already been suggested many times. Lacks proper amount of detail (ex: What tools do you want, what do the lanterns do). Waypoints have no solid way to be implemented into the game, along with a GPS. Also, if you think an idea is overpowered don't post it in the first place, your keyboard has a backspace button. Don't list suggestions that have nothing to do with each other, this is considered a "Wishlist", and is never taken seriously. Finally, praising you own suggestion without the proper grammar makes you seem like a garbled mess that doesn't necessarily know what he's doing. I suggest editing your post to avoid being flagged by a particularly mean suggestion troll.
Edit: Fixed spelling and caps errors, also, I realize you are new to the forums and don't know most of the rules. Read up a little next time.
