Currently, Fire Charges have no use but as an inefficient ammunition for a dispenser. I propose that they can be "thrown" with right click by the player. It will travel with the same trajectory as an ender pearl, and do 10 half-hearts of damage to mobs (10 half hearts, 5 full) for a direct hit, and decreasing by 4 half hearts every block the mob is away from the detonation center, while also having a 75% chance of setting mobs within 2 blocks on fire.
This would improve combat for more advanced players, and provide a good alternative to bows, as well as a better use for fire charges.
Why this is NOT overpowered:
Fire Charges are rather expensive, and two are needed to take out a player, and most hostile mobs.
"aiming" projectiles like ender pearls and fire charges is quite difficult, considering that the charge must land within 3 blocks of the target to cause any damage at all.
If you could rephrase 10 hearts of damage to 10 health that would make a bit more sense (1 heart = 2 health in the code). I like the idea, but for a weapon of this caliber I feel they are still a bit cheap, considering a normal bow will accomplish the same amount of damage.
I feel it would make more sense to have to combine a fire charge (which as it is is a passable flint and steel and dispenser weapon) with an enderpearl to make something that teleports you and deals damage... in effect you land in an explosion, that does not damage you (and also explains the detonation center you suggested). The explosion shouldn't damage blocks, that being a bit to op.
And why the combination with the enderpearl? for the perfect OMGWTF moment during an ambush.

I like the idea, but I don't think fire charges are that expensive...
If they would cause any damage when throwed, it should be 1/4 of a player's health(two hearts and half) because it would be very overpowered for people throwing lots of them at once. I also thought about a fire charge arrow, but that's a bad idea...
Fire charges really don't require too much stuff to make. And if you're really close to somebody, you could take them out with just a few of these. No support.

I didn't feel like making a good signature, so I just typed this up.
A.) a blaze farm can be difficult to set up.
B.) not too hard.
C.) really? You think a fortune pickaxe isn't all that hard to get.
D.)coal... That should be easy at this level, so I agree.

Free + Crabs + Ability to trample/suffocate opponents in Cortex Command = Free Bombs.
A.) a blaze farm can be difficult to set up. Sure it takes resources but after you get those, it is really easy to make these. Why not go to Youtube for designs?

Sorry, this feature is too overpowered
Just use a Flame bow instead.
