I think that wheat blocks should be added to the game to store wheat (like an ore block). Also, this block would be able to be used as thatch for your roof instead of oak.
I would like craftable blades, that you can put on any surface and will spin, generating energy with which to spin craftable trasmition rods/universal joints. These would end at one of several craftable work blocks. For instance, a grain mill which you could put wheat blocks in to make milled grain which thus lets you make more useful bread.
Well if the blocks could be subsiquently crafted into a larger, bundeled block, then the thatch/wheat block idea remains intact. Also if you set them next to a group of animals (like in a closed pasture or grazing field) then the animals will automatically come over to it and eat it as if it were you giving them wheat, allowing animals to automatically breed. The block of course would have a limited number of uses, thus the bundled block makes sense, because it would have more uses.
Maybe if you right clicked a bundled hay bale with seeds/carrots you "attach" them to it making chickens or pigs feed off of it. As for the experience problem; if you take the easy way and do something automatically then why should you get xp for it (the animals would still drop the orbs, but if you are not there to collect them then they despawn)
Yeah I like that, I don't know how it could be implemented since you gain experience with breeding now, plus it would only work on cows but I'd definitely like that.
You get experience for "doing" something. If you are just sitting there with your job being done automatically, how are you supposed to "experience" it then?

Oh, you mean EXACTLY LIKE BETTER THAN WOLVES?Also, support. I used to have a barn in my old survival world and had yellow wool as hay bales. This would be much nicer.

"Man a wheat block/bale would be nice... like a 3x3 crafting grid item"
...True Story...
also use it to make beds instead of three wool
