I beleive the quick-bar would be more efficient if when using a block type in the quick-bar it was replaced by the same block type in your inventory when you ran out.
Example of how this would work:
I have 64 cobblestone blocks in a quick-bar slot. I have 12 bundles of 64 cobblestone blocks in my inventory. If I use up my 64 cobblestone blocks in my quick-bar slot, it gets replaced by one of the 12 in my inventory. This would eliminate the hassle of having to open up your inventory and putting the same block type into multiple quick-bar slots.
you should be able to click+ a certain button (take C here for example) to flag an item (or just C while holding an item in your hand) as auto-replenish. perhaps it should't just switch stacks, but in case of stackable block, constantly fill up the stack so it will stay on 64, and instead take away the other stacks you have, making the held stack act like a conduit.

I like this. Perhaps it could have a little number (colored differently) that indicated that you had x number of stacks of that block/item left in your inventory (think like an ammo system for a FPS).
I agree with these statements. I believe it would be nice to replenish items in my quick bar. It could also be nice to have a way to determine what does, and what does not auto replenish. I do like the idea that a number could show how many stacks, like zephyr says. I hope this makes it into a future update.
We already have shift-click and quick hotbar organizing - why do we need this?
Currently, if you have several stacks of different block types in an inventory that you plan on using, you have to constantly switch to your inventory to shift-click blocks to have them appear back into a quick-bar slot when it runs out. This would eliminate needing to do this, thus making building/crafting smoother, more organized, and more efficient.
This is a stellar idea!!! Game Change Wanted!!!
I play survival mode as well, and end up making many long distance bridges over land, water, and lava. Being able to link more cobble (or any stacked inventory item of the same type) to one slot vs having to fill all of my quick slots with cobble, will increase my long distance bridge and rail building speed. I think leaving it as an option to use (like control click in inventory) is a simple enough request and does not force it upon people who don't want it. Do the game coders read this stuff?
