I think there should be a change in the way that animals are breed. There should be a 0-3 chanced number of offspring, and there should be genders so there are no alien-no-gender-breeding. There should also be a reward to breeding, like the better breeding mod except a little bit less overpowered.

You think you're good at Minecraft? HA, NOPE.I can find and mine a diamond on a random seed in 10 minutes.I PUNCHED THE FREAKING ENDER DRAGON TO DEATH. I found 10 villages, 3 ravines, 2 abandoned mines, and 1 stronghold in a 105 chunk range in a randomized seed
Make a suggestion, not constantly say what your vision is: be neutral, say both pro's and cons instead of constantly saying there should, as that is your opinion, and most people would say that there should be other things. most people would dislike gender animals for starters, and a bigger offspring number might be inbalancing, as it would drasticly increase the rate of growth, even with a 0 offspring chance included. please, make it more detailed. this is not a suggestion, but a thought. and i would't be surprised if this thread gets locked due vague suggestions.
I like this. Well, everything except the last part. It's a thought out enough suggestion to stand on it's own, even if the gender thing has been suggested before.
As for the actual suggestion, no thanks. As colers5 said, it would severely unbalance the breeding system, and genders would just over-complicate things and be annoying. Getting food (and therefore farming and breeding) is the most basic thing in Survival because it needs to be like that. It's the bottom of the survival pyramid so it is the most broad and easiest to understand.

No thanks. Your suggestion doesn't make breeding better, because it just makes it more tedious. The "unisex" breeding works fine as is, so there's no reason to add pointless complications to that.
There should also be a reward to breeding, like the better breeding mod except a little bit less overpowered.
Uh, there already is a reward to breeding, and that's theoretical infinite resources, assuming the player maintains a pen/farm of animals and keeps breeding them.

No support.
The tediousness is why I would like to have it in-game. It seems weird that you can get any two mobs and have an infinite source of food and xp

Where is the "Why," the compelling reasons for such changes? Breeding is already easy; simply changing the number of offspring does nothing interesting. Genders complicates things needlessly, and goes against the stated direction of Minecraft as being gender-neutral.
The tediousness is why I would like to have it in-game. It seems weird that you can get any two mobs and have an infinite source of food and xp
While that is true, let's break down some things:
If you have infinite food from Animals, you already had infinite food. The exception to this is Chickens, where you can get their Seeds from Tall Grass. Chickens can also be made from eggs however, leading in turn to infinite food without breeding at all.
You certainly do get Experience from breeding animals, and more from killing them. However, if we add the average of both of those Experience rewards (Average XP for Breeding two mobs is 2.5 XP, and killing one because you just bred a new one nets you another 2 XP on average) you get approx. 4.5 XP for breeding two mobs and then killing one of the parents.
So if you have 2 cows, and you follow that system, you would have to breed them and kill one parent 3.77 times just to get from no XP to level 1. Considering that it takes that baby 15 minutes to grow up, and rounding up because you can't breed .77 times, this would take you an hour to get one level. Keep in mind that each of the first 16 levels take the same XP, so it would take you 16 hours to get to level 16. And then it just takes longer.
But no one has just two mobs, you say? Well let's talk about exponential method of Breeding without killing animals. Say you start with 2 cows. Adults can be bred every 5 minutes. Babies take 15 minutes to grow, as I mentioned. Meaning if you bred at EXACTLY the 5 minute mark (which is basically impossible, there will always be a slight delay unless you sit there spamming them with Wheat, which is terribly inefficient) You would get 2.5 XP per minute per animal pair, and you would get a new pair every 10 minutes (per animal couple) after a 20 minute delay. So it breaks down like this:
So yes, it can increase semi-exponentially, with some delay. But after 40 minutes, you are only 50 XP up, and not even at level 3. The simple fact is, in order to instantly hit 30 by Breeding alone, you need to Breed 704 animals, assuming you get the average 2.5 XP each time. It takes about 3 seconds for each animal to breed and for you to collect the XP, so you are looking at 17.6 minutes of just Breeding animals repeatedly to get to level 30 just from Breeding. That doesn't take into the account of the MASSIVE amount of lag this would cause, nor trying to wade through a sea of animals, nor the fact that you need to constantly maintain this herd, which is impossible to do. Plus maintaining your 704 blocks of Wheat, and the 88 blocks of water you would need to sustain them (assuming you do groupings of 8 wheat around a single water source). that's 792 blocks, or a field 29x29 blocks.
So is it possible to get unlimited XP through this method? Sure. Will your system fix that? Absolutely not. With 0-3 offspring per breeding cycle, you are looking at 1.5 offspring per Breed. Meaning that your flock increases more. So while your system would be more tedious to start, once you start breeding by large groups you would actually get MORE food and Experience at an even FASTER rate. Plus whatever this non-descriptive "bonus" is.
So no support again, because your suggestion just makes it slightly more annoying to start out, but after the tedious beginning you actually are breeding faster and getting more food and Experience than the current method.

On topic, why do we need this? Do we seriously have to add genders to things? I don't want this to be MineHentai or HentaiCraft. Also, what's the purpose of this? As stated earlier, you get infinite resources. Here's a list of things you can get an infinite supply of; Water, Lava, Wood, Stone, Cobblestone, Leaves, Obsidian, Ice, Snow, Snow Blocks, any food, and lastly livestock. Oh, and torches. All of those you can never run out of in minecraft for one reason or another.
If you have infinite food from Animals, you already had infinite food. The exception to this is Chickens, where you can get their Seeds from Tall Grass. Chickens can also be made from eggs however, leading in turn to infinite food without breeding at all.

Honestly, how do you even have the time to write this much? I read the entire thing, and i wish you could be my teacher.

Negatives:
I don't know what the age restrictions to Minecraft is, but i do know that to add on 'genders' is an unnecessary luxury when you think about it. Sometimes when you're bored you WANT the extra work. I know that some really young kids play, and to add genders, thus allowing only particular animals to mate to others would be a little too far for the young ones. If Minecraft's current age restriction is 6, they would have to increase it to 8-10 for this to be approved, meaning in those 3 years added, Minecraft would lose TOO many customers in return for genders and the way you 'mate' them.
Positives:
This is a really nice idea in many ways, firstly, imagine having a nice small button you could click to check out your breeding stats. Maybe, there's a exp column and the higher it goes, the less time you'd have to wait for a new born baby to mature. Or maybe you might have a slim chance at getting a double baby because i do know that some mobs in Minecraft breed more than 1 baby at a time.
Literally EVERYTHING in Minecraft is intended to be gender-neutral - we don't need a "realistic" animal breeding system, the standard wheat-feeding works just fine as it is.
The tediousness is why I would like to have it in-game. It seems weird that you can get any two mobs and have an infinite source of food and xp
Okay. Just because you want the tediousness there doesn't mean everyone else does... I don't want to waste my wheat/carrots/seeds to make two animals breed but have a slim chance of actually producing the baby mob. That's just annoying. Minecraft has gone pretty well with the genderless animals and that's not about to (or there's no good reason to have that) change.
