So, since Minecraft has started PvP has not changed very much at all and I disagree with how it currently is
difficulty wise. At the moment you can go on to a server and PvP takes no skill, it is all *Click click click click* Rapidly. I believe they should some how add an aspect to PvP that makes it a bit more difficult and adds a bit of a strategic curve to having to PvP. Although the current PvP is better for killing mobs and I suppose helps some of the less "advanced" or I suppose I could say younger players of Minecraft I think it should have to be a bit more advanced so people can actually say they are "skilled" some what at PvP and be proud of it, currently everyone can be "skilled" per-say.
What do you think? Should PvP be a bit more advanced and take a bit more skill in order to become a good, or great, PvP player of Minecraft?
If your PvP matches are just "click click click", I suggest trying harder. Most current arenas on maps take advantage of the strategy that is already in the game, the problem is that the people do not. Do something other than "click click click"; hide behind rocks and other obstacles, smash potions in their faces, snipe from high altitudes, rapid fire from low altitudes, run around the player instead of into. Hell, my own arena map even contains a "safe" building for hiding and healing, and a maze to a hidden enchantment table.
It's not the game's fault all you do is spam click, it's yours.
You know what'd be interesting? Labyrinth PvP. I don't have the patience to build the maze, but I'd love to see that happen.

I suppose your right with some of the things such as potions and bows, although this again is very difficult, I realize you have an "arena" and such for your server but I am focusing on just plain you run into someone on a server and fight. A lot of people who are usually labeled "noobs" will just use a diamond sword and rapid click on you, now if this happened it is highly unlikely you will have a potion handy, and even if you do you will most likely die before it greatly affects them or you even have time to take it out while running away or attacking. This also is the same with arrows due to aiming slowing you down, yes rapid fire is helpful but not against someone rapidly clicking at you. Lastly I am not blaming the game for spam clicking, I am suggesting they add some better aspects to make PvP a bit more challenging, for example (Not saying it is a good example they should add) they could make it so you may fall down from getting hit hard, something that may make it so people cannot just spam click and auto kill players that will not have time to use all these different tactics.

But, why? People find spam clicking as an effective method of attacking. If you do not, why do you spam click? If people do not want to use other methods, why should they?
You will not die before being able to use your potions, because there is a way to sprint. Personally I actually use any kind of knockback to my advantage; if something hits you from behind, you're going to have knockback in the direction you're facing, therefore you move farther ahead of the player/mob you are trying to outrun. Therefore it's easily possible to run up, smash a splash potion of damage/poison on them, and run away. Or better, shoot from a farther range.
Arrows taking a while to aim is irrelevant if you're sniping, since...well, you aren't in melee range of the player anyway. You can get at least one or two hits in with a sniper before a player gets the chance to run away.
Rapid fire is not the best method, but it still counts; emerge from behind a rock and rapid-fire into a player's back. Note that "rapid" does not mean at the speed a spam-click can reach, it means below fully charged arrows.
Your entire statement is based on the fact that the PvP is planned on as well as you are the attacker, as I am more in the view of the person being attacked. In this statement I will convey two points,
First of all if someone comes up behind you with a diamond sword and start spam clicking, lets say you "conveniently" have some sort of bad effecting splash potion on you, your saying you would actually have the time to switch to the slot of your potion and throw it in his face and run away all before dying? Good luck with that.
Second, my perspective I suppose would be a bit in the perspective of a unarmed, helpless player getting snuck up on by someone with a diamond sword. I believe they could add an aspect that would make it so this unarmed player would actually be able to get away. You said that their is something called RUNNING but at the same time people with diamond swords and armor and so on run just as fast, so this does not help at all really. Just what I have said in this paragraph so far springs two ideas to my head on how they could add PvP aspects, one being from being attacked from behind, this could be fixed by possibly adding a 0.30s cooldown between attacks so the helpless player would have time to react and run without getting constant damage, another that could also effect the previous aspect idea would be make swords and such weigh you down only a slight amount more than someone with no armor/weapons being carried in hand. Just enough weight for an unarmed player to have a chance of escaping.
I realize I said 2 statements but this is just a side note, I only use spam clicking because at the moment it is necessary for survival, along with not everyone is okay with this form of attacking, they only use it because it is vital. I believe the only reason people find it effective is because it is the only possible way. If minecraft adding the two ideas I just displayed I believe it would make the game a lot more fair and add a diversity between a weak player to a strong player, if a weak player wanted to try attacking a strong one than they would have to get close, this meaning the strong player would be able to attack them as well. Oh I almost forgot to reply to your bow statement! What you said about using bows in long range, that is if you are the attacker or the battle is set up as where I am looking it more the perpective of making things a bit more fair.
Also I would like to add that the above ideas are not what would be the only things I would add due to these only adding fairness. I would also like some way to make it an achievement to be a good PvP player. Just as people are proud of being a good Builder and so on. It adds something to work on and be proud of.

Good luck with that. Yes, I do. If you have the item in your hotbar, you can easily scroll over to it, or if you're skilled at it, you can press a single number and have it ready. Also, you can throw while running, you do not have to throw and then run.
They run just as fast, but as I said, knockback. Try running into a zombie and then try to run away. Do you notice how their attacks knock you back so that you're able to get ahead of them, even while not sprinting? Not to mention the obstacles in a forest and such work both ways; hiding the attacking player and allowing you to hide from the attacking player. Secondly, you also deal knockback. Punch the attacker and quickly back up.
It's fairly easy to escape a player with a diamond sword, and even a low enchanted one. Not to mention that if this is a PvP server, the player should at least have a little armor on and tools in his/her hotbar.
Spamming attacks is not some god-method of killing players and mobs. In fact, compared to using a variety of attacks, spamming is very much the least efficient way to deal with someone. Even a player with bare fists is at least able to escape a battle, even if they've been dealt lots of damage.
I disagree that it is easy to get away from a diamond sword if you are not ready for it. If someone hits you you will most likely first turn to see who it is, then start running, most likely they are already prepared for you to start running and will be about the same length behind you, eventually your food runs out and you stop running, then you die.
Also I am not saying its the most efficient at all, but the most common, meaning it would be the most likely for Minecraft to actually do something about.
I am not talking about just a PvP server, I am saying in general. Oh also I dont really care about the method people use to kill mobs as that is fairly basic and not hard to do haha. Although now that you mention it I would see 1 flaw in my idea to make you slightly slower with armor on is the ender dragon, this wouldn't be MUCH of a problem seeing as most use a bow but still something to think about :P. I would really like to see some other people input on our little debate going on here haha.
