I think there should be more villagers and a minor overhaul to villages.
First, the new villagers.
The Miner:
Holds an iron pickaxe, has a diamond-colored suit and holds a random type of pickaxe.
Construction Worker:
Holds building material, has gold helmet, places blocks to make houses. To make this possible, villagers randomly move to a village nearby for new friends. Thus this enables moving. While moving, they will hold maps. They will not teleport, but walk.
OVERHAULS:
Mine: Small building with stairs. Mines have the most ores. Villagers WILL mine.
Here's an unexpected part of the idea. It's changing the look of villagers.
The current look in kinda ugly and the villagers look like they're mean to you. Villagers should look like humans from now on. Also villagers will have their hands out, and their faces will change, if they want to trade with you, like you, or hate you.
This is usually the part where I say "No. Villagers aren't meant to have these kinds of professions because they're not very physical." But they have houses and crops that were presumably built by them, so your suggestion still actually fits within Minecraft's "bounds". The Miner seems alright, but I can't picture him holding a pickaxe amongst his cross-armed brethren. Still, I can support the Miner.
I don't favor the construction worker, as the programming needed to make him accurately place blocks would be unspeakably tedious. And because he's capable of building houses, he's also able to have more villagers spawn (ergo, more trades) and increase Iron Golem spawn chances - which I believe is something that the player should take care of, rather than a mob doing all that for you.
I think there should be more villagers and a minor overhaul to villages. We already have 5. do we need more?

OVERHAULS:
Mine: Small building with stairs. Mines have the most ores. Villagers WILL mine. Why let Villagers Mine? shouldn't the player do it?

Villagers are like that to be unique, Human looks would be too normal and plain.
Support? Negatory.
