So this is a fairly simple suggestion, but it makes sense to me, and to many other thread viewers.
Endermen are tele-porters. In my view, they are like aliens exploring worlds, picking up blocks and observing. They would however be considerably rarer in the Nether than in the Overworld.
They are inter-dimensional beings after all, as stated by Geartooth. The Nether and End do after all have ties, as Eyes of Ender require a material from the Nether to craft. Thus the dimensions are intertwined.
Thus the concept of an Isthmus Anchor comes in. So long as there is at least one resource/material in another dimension related to the End, the Endermen can dimensionally link themselves to it, and therefore travel at will in between them.
Endermen are already coded to avoid lava, just as they are coded to avoid water. This is crucial to understand, as there has been much speculation about this.
So wouldn't it make sense if they appeared in the Nether? They would merely be exploring the realm just as they do with the Overworld. It makes sense to me. What do you guys think?
P.S.
Endermen remind me of Observers from Fringe, for those of you who watch the show. With all the teleporting. . . and the stare. . .
Ehhh... This would require new things for endermen's aI/programming. All nether mobs HAVE to have lava proofness, or else they are considered obsolete, and die to the lava as soon as they spawn. Endermen would to made fire proof in the nether to survive, which would be a pain to code. Also, why would endermen want to teleport to some hellish realm? Grass sounds much better.

I agree, but for different reasons. Adding Fire resistance would be easy (to my knowledge, it's basically changing a single variable in their code), but I always thought they could only come into the Overworld because it is the only realm their Portal can communicate with.

I don't see much of a reason to implement this, but it wouldn't exactly ruin the game if this existed either. Pretty much what jpmrocks said, the Endermen would need a lot of new coding to not teleport themselves into lava, and they seem to favor their own homeland and the Overworld, but not so much the hot lava-filled Nether.
If this was added, then the Nether would be filled with burning-Endermen-noises along with the Blaze noises, Ghast noises, Pigmen noises, and the Slime noises.
Sorry, but don't see much point to this idea.

Not necessarily. They would have to avoid lava, just as they have to avoid water in the Overworld. From my view they are explorers and learners (ish). Although the Nether is kind of hellish, they may still want to check it out. Much less of them would spawn there too, as of the unpopularity of the realm among them. See what I am saying?

That is an interesting theory. I will consider that.
This so far has been the most logical explanation for why they don't show up in the Nether.

They still may be curious though, which is what I was trying to get at above. Avoiding the lava would be similar to avoiding water for them.

Again, they would avoid lava in a similar manner as they do with water. They wouldn't get burned very often due to this.
Even then, wouldn't the extra noises just add to the chaos, giving the Nether more of the desired effect?
I'm sorry, but personally, I think they wouldn't go well in the Nether, although we could do with a new mob to go along with the empty feeling of the Nether realms.
Yeah, I kind of feel that an Arthropod in the Nether might be nice.
It is not so much that I want Endermen in the Nether, but it makes sense to me for them to be there. They would be a curious sight in the Nether for sure.

Yah, and the noises for endermen dieng are so annoying, so, and added to the Blaze, Ghast, Pigmen, and Slime noises would mean you would have to turn your volume off in the nether
And also, they are exploreres, they explore the End, cuz it's they're home, and they explore the Overworld because it's a new world with strange objects, but why would they explore the nether, cuz enderman either havn't found it, or they know to stay away from worlds with lava everywhere, sleeping fireball shooting clouds, half pig half corroded pig in armour, and jumping things that attack you...

Well, the End actually is tied in with the Nether. Eye of Enders require a material from the Nether, and they are explorers, so clearly they would be curious about the Nether regardless of lava.
the Endermen would need a lot of new coding to not teleport themselves into lava
Well, a lot of new coding is required for every update. And if I am not mistaken, they already have similar coding when it comes to water, so that could help a considerable amount.
I'm not against this, but i have similar concerns to Badprenup. However, I'd accept the ultra-rare enderman in the nether, but they shouldn't become common.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...
uuuhhh, no.
I think the logic behind endermen in the real world is that they leak from end portals, so sticking them in the nether wouldn't really mke sense.
wow. that was a really dumb reason for my argument wasn't it?

True, I would also accept them if they were very rare. Also, their code doesn't need to be changed. It is in every mob's AI already to avoid walking through lava and fire, unless chasing the player. And Endermen can only teleport onto solid blocks, unless there is Water or Lava directly above them. The code should be pretty solid already.

Eh, not really useful idea. Endermen, how would they get into the Nether? They need s portal to get to the over world, do they use OUR nether portals? Spawn random portals? Please explain.

Yeah, it's not intended for them to be common. It makes sense that they should't be.
