I have been thinking for a while about the possibility to access the inernet from minecraft, but not in the traditional way. from my understanding of minecraft blocks and gameplay mechanics there is a high possibility to literally send a minecraft player into the cloud. the advantages of someone achiveing this will be exploring old web sites thought to have been deleted without the need of a url, finding a blank space on the cloud and building a wall around a chest with some stored data (like say credit card info, passwords, etc.) the chests would have the ability to store data from your computers hard drive in zip files and web links would work as portals to different parts of the web. before any one says "this is impossible to do." or "what about lag." lag wouldn't be an issue because the current format of the single player character is .dat, but if converted into a java script file that is able to move from network to network with a built in ftp. as for display a block id is given to each part of the internet as follows: any filetype=block link=portal hub=exit/entrance/door. each set of these will have their own ids and new blocks or standard vanilla. I only posted this because im not very good at programing so i figured someone could make this into a reality, i have always wished it was possible to explore cyber space and from my understanding of minecraft this is the easiest way to achive the means to do so. sure this will be a challenge but anything is possible when you put your mind to it. every one said time travel in minecraft was impossible and look at charsmud working to get it done when no one else would bother to try. so before you put this idea down at least try it.
with what I've seen people do with redstone computers, I would believe it possible that someone could make a simple, but functional web browser in game - would be hell on your computer though.
your cyberpunk cyberspace concept, however, would require serious custom modding. All you would end up achieving is to add a graphical interface for use in hacking, - which is kinda stupid since rendering graphic's, especially in java, retards your system's ability to apply it's resource's on the actual process of hacking.
It'd be cool to see a redstone web browser though.
