Just a simple, straight-forward idea to make bonemeal more useful.
Currently, bonemeal works great as a plant fertilizer, but that is pretty much its only use. I propose having bonemeal work for animals as well. Using bonemeal on a cow would make it milkable, on a sheep would make it regrow its wool, and make a chicken lay an egg.
Bonemeal might also make all these animals (including pigs) able to breed again, although this may be way too OP.
Also, bonemeal dispensed by a dispenser should effect the crop/animal in the block directly in front of it, because automation is an awesome thing to do.
Lastly, because this may be a little OP, when crafting bone into bonemeal, you would only get one or maybe two bonemeals for each bone.
Possibly, bonemeal could be crafted with the food of its respective animal, so that it functions with that animal. The bonemeal would then gain an additional data value based on the mob it was intended for.

Sounds logical. I don't know what you mean by making cows milk-able though. They are already milk-able and they can be milked an unlimited amount of times per day.
Maybe the bonemeal could be mixed with the designated animal's food on a crafting table.

Not a bad idea, but adding all those new items seems a bit overkill. Possibly it could be like extra data values (like for mob spawners), added when crafting with the respective food.

I'd like bonemeal making an animal ready to mate. Maybe the received bonemeal would be nerfed if this were to be added; I think it'd be worth it since bonemeal's already OP anyways.

Yes i definitely think the received bonemeal should definitely be nerfed to 2 or even one.
Bonemeal has a lot of uses already. It can produce every type of tree, flowers, grass, wheat, mushrooms, potatoes, carrots, melons, pumpkins, and cocoa, as well as 5 different dye colours. It is highly useful to produce any of these items in large quantity. It really depends how much building you do with these items, how useful it would be.

There is, however, one key area where bone meal is not used - and that is potions. So what about using bone meal as the key ingredient in a potion which has these effects?
Also, I don't think the code base of Minecraft is well suited to randomize the crafting recipe output. That would require a fairly extensive change, and be unlikely to change for this small benefit.

By "one or two" i meant i had not decided between one and two, not that it would differentiate.
