Now if you read the title then you probably think of the Baltimore i think its called process which was made in the late 1800s but its not for Minecraft, what, you expect me to suggest a whole factory to build? No, what i suggest is this. before the Baltimore process in order to make Steel people would do it by hand in a blacksmith shop,(or on a Furnace or Anvil ) i dont know exactly how but Steel involves Carbon,Iron and i believe another chemical which i dont know, please tell me in the comments if you know the old process details.
But basically,it was made in small amounts, thats why it was occasionally used in tools(swords, pickaxes, utensils)or maybe a plate of armor if you got enough. If this was added to Minecraft it would add a new Tier(obviously) of weapons and armor.i think it would add a nice coat of INTERESTINGNESS to Minecraft. of course there would probably be a Steel block which would be like the Iron block except MUCH stronger. (Steel nowadays is about 1,000 times stronger than typical Iron!)
so it would be alot stronger. in order to make it i think there would need to be a new item:carbon. i think it would be done in a Furnace with the Carbon as the Fuel and Iron Ingot as the Ingrediant and that would make 1 Steel Ingot, or Steel Bar.well thats what i suggest i hope you agree if i missed anything important just mention it in the comments thanks for reading
- Steel should be made by re-smelting an iron ingot. This would cut down on your extra supplies of coal, and make it just hard enough, but not too hard, to get.
- Steel should be in between iron and diamond, with higher durability and damage/efficiency.
- Steel ingots should look like an iron ingot, but with a more silvery, less tarnished color.
- Steel blocks could be used to make a steel anvil, which has more durability and takes slightly less levels than the iron one.

i agree with the anvil and ingot idea but i edited the smelting and Steel requires Carbon so carbon could be used as the fuel with Iron as the ingrediant to produce a Steel Ingot with the good color you said
Coal is carbon-based, so they are almost the same thing. It would also be more difficult to program a whole new material. However, a 'carbon chunk' could be made by smelting coal with itself, or something. That might be too complicated for one ingot recipie in the long run, though.

well youve got that right and now that i think of it coal IS carbon based so yeah either use coal in itself or smelt coal with coal for a carbon chunk so yeah thanks for the correction
Adding steel to the game is something that's been suggested a million times. It was already made clear by some employees of Mojang that no new tools and armor were on the way. Also, adding steel for the sake of just new tools and armor is a bad way to go. Note that the other materials in the game (with the exception of Lapis) have larger use outside of tools/armor.
No support.

Some, though, not by much. While diamond DOES create the best equipment, beyond that all it can make is a jukebox and (in the future) a fancy thing for fireworks.
I do want steel, but I want it to be useful. Iron is useful, so why not steel?

Except that dia sword is half a heart more than iron sword, so it would be the same as diamond.

steel can be much more useful ironwas replaced by steel in the late 1800s once you start producing steel it could replace most of your iron and be a better ingrediant for things like pistons, jukeboxes, etc.

I thought that because Diamond makes the best gear that was why it was only used for one (soon 2) other things. It is the rarest and the best, so they wouldn't want you to take the most coveted item in the game and use it for a bunch of other crap.
I'm not outright opposed to this idea, but I want it to have other uses besides tools and armor. I will offer any ideas for other uses if I think of them, but I can't support this unless there are more uses.

like i said steel is commonly in real life used as a building material which means you can do things like replace the iron in a piston and instead use steel for a maybe stronger, longer reaching piston and it may be a very strong building block there is many uses
