Bee Hive: a projectile weapon/defense mechanism where a bee hive from a tree, that can be obtained by breaking leaves--like apples--to throw at people. The way it works is that the bees will be magnetized to you(like or exactly) like experience points, causing damage instead of experience. It should be expire after 30 seconds - 1 minute or TRY TO RUN FROM IT (like the experience points being left on the ground when you move too fast from it) and it should distort one's view.
This signature has absolutely no point at all. And then it has a point to inform you that it has no point, but it has no point because it really doesn't have a point, but it has a point because it tells you it has no point... and ah, screw this.
And also, could you kill the bees? Or would you run screaming "MY ASS! MOMMY!"

I think that bee hives should be a block that could be placed, that spawns in trees, and using a glass bottle on one would give you a jar of honey. Maybe the bees would be a mob that spawns from the bee hive, but only attacks you if you are within a few blocks from the hive?
Sorry if these are dumb ideas, just brainstorming.
Another idea: yellow jacket holes. If you step on one, you will need to run to the nearest water hole. Yellow jackets take 1 heart every 2 seconds for 5 seconds and then they go away. Yellow jacket holes are rare, though.

jar o honey.... i like it! but if your livin in your house, all cool and stuff, when some giant reaches in and takes your crap, wouldnt you be mad? this should make the hive block start spawning bees, kinda like a mob spawner, but much faster. also maybe breaking wood or leaf blocks within 10 blocks should agro them, what with the noise.
and the honey.... maybe you could eat it to restore some health. and no, you couldnt just spam it to become invincible, cuz, ya know, the bees will get mad and come after you.
also maybe you could combine the honey with something else to make slimeballs, in case there isnt a swamp nearby or you cant find slimes in caves.
and maybe some other use. i dunno, maybe you could use it like a bait or something? im also brainstorming.

holes? in the ground? i didnt know they lived in the ground....
Some bees live in the ground. I don't think that would work, though, since the hives would have to take up a block to be Minecraft-propartionate, and a one block hole in the ground would be huge. Even the hives are stretching it, holes wouldn't work in my opinion.
As for throwing bee hives... I disagree. Wouldn't the bees go after you before you threw it? No throwing beehives is what I'd like.
Edit:
It should, like being on fire
