We could use more different type of food. This suggestion will increase the diversity of food. It will add 13 different food, thus nearly doubling the diversity of food.
Banana: Occasinally dropped from jungle leaves. Same chance as apple from oak. Can be eaten for 4 points of hunger.

Strawberry: Also found in jungle. Can be eaten for 2 points of hunger or crafted into seeds.
Tomato: Found in plains, forest and jungle biomes. Can be used as a recipe for pizza.
Dead Spider: Dropped by Spider. Replaces spider eye drop. Can be crafted into Spider Eye or placed in Furnace to be cooked. Restores 3 points of hunger and has 20% chance of poisoning. Spider will drop 0-1 Dead Spider.
Cooked Spider: Obtained by placing Dead Spider in furnace. Restores 7 points of hunger and doesn't poison at all.

Bacon: Obtained by crafting Raw Porkchop into Raw Bacon then placed in Furnace.

I like the fact to include drinks to minecraft like the wine but i think there should also be a change in the way the player becomes hungry, with so many varians of food its impossible to die of hunger, there should be like negative effects after time like: weakness 1 due to meat lack or something similar. With the 1.4 update and the new varieties of food its really hard to be hungry like before.
Still i like your ideas, hope they are taken in consideration for next update
Certain food has chance of poisoning. The meat from squid will make it worth killing squids. Raw squid meat has a chance of poisoning. Right now all the squids drop are ink sac.
Wine has negative effects if you drink it too much. It should be taken in moderation.
Who says spider are too big to be eaten? This is Minecraft.
Jungle would be much like a paradise and it's worth living there since there's ample supply of food.
People who wants to make high-quality food can make pizzas that is delicious and restore a good amount of hunger.
Cooked flesh and dead/cooked spiders are mainly for underground dwellers. They also can be fed to wolves.
Banana: Occasinally dropped from jungle leaves. Same chance as apple from oak. Can be eaten for 4 points of hunger. Fair enough. Hunger point filling seems a bit too high, though.
Grape: Found in jungle. Grape can be crafted into seeds so this is renewable. Can be eaten for 2 points of hunger or used as recipe for wine. Alright.
Strawberry: Also found in jungle. Can be eaten for 2 points of hunger or crafted into seeds. Decent enough.
Tomato: Found in plains, forest and jungle biomes. Can be used as a recipe for pizza. Pizza? No.
Dead Spider: Dropped by Spider. Replaces spider eye drop. Can be crafted into Spider Eye or placed in Furnace to be cooked. Restores 3 points of hunger and has 20% chance of poisoning. Spider will drop 0-1 Dead Spider. That's... random.
Cooked Spider: Obtained by placing Dead Spider in furnace. Restores 7 points of hunger and doesn't poison at all. Also very random.
Raw Squid Meat: Dropped by Squids. Drops 0-3 on death. Restores 2 points of hunger. 30% chance of causing food poisoning.
Cooked Squid Meat: Obtained by placing Raw Squid Meat in Furnace. Restores 6 points of hunger. Meh.
Cooked Flesh: Obtained by putting rotten flesh in furnace. Restores 8 points of hunger. 10% chance to cause food poisoning for 10 seconds. Nah. Seems like a waste of time to cook Rotten Flesh just to reduce the poison chance. There's enough non-poison food in the game for anyone to care about this Cooked Flesh. Rotten Flesh is meant to be an expendable"not the best" food source. Even more so for wolves.
Cheese: Place bucket of milk in a furnace. By the time it's done, the bucket is empty and a cheese is produced. Restores 6 points of hunger and high saturation. Sure.
Pizza: Crafted using wheat, tomato and cheese. Restores 8 points of hunger. 25% chance of Strength, 25% chance of Speed, 25% chance of Haste and 25% chance of Instant Health II. No.
Wine: Crafted with bucket of water and grape. 1st: Gives you Strength I and Haste I. 2nd: Strength II, Haste II and Nausea, if you drink when you still have the effect of 1st wine. 3rd: Same as 2nd but with Poison for 10 seconds. Suggested a hundred times, but still not that bad. Don't know how Mojang would feel about adding alcoholic beverages in their game, despite the fact we can collect detached spider eyes and zombie flesh.Actually, this wine would technically just be grape juice, but that's just arguing semantics.
Bacon: Obtained by crafting Raw Porkchop into Raw Bacon then placed in Furnace. No.
