So you know, how the ore generation is kind of boring? Well i have an idea of how to fix this. It may not be realistic, but it spawns cool ideas. So: what if in certain biomes, ore generation, of a specific ore type, was more plentiful. here is a really stupid chart illustrating this:
And so you see, if you mine a lot on the bottom of oceans, youll find a lot more coal, or in forests, a lot more gravel(stupid gravel!) So you see, in an smp server, people would fight over a nearby river, for all the gold in it. And, you could place your iron pick factory, using buildcraft, in a plains, to make it more profittable.
and all the other ores, you ask? well they would all spawn a little less, with emeralds everywhere, like they should be. I think this would make exploring, both more fun, and proffitable.

The ore system is fine as it is. This would not help the ore generation. Nor would it aid exploration.
