you shouldn't be thinking of it as dust but more like a power cable. Also gameplay over realism, why deny this idea just because it is slightly unrealistic

Creeper Hugging, Its fun but it might be the last fun thing you do
Vertical redstone dust, great idea! The dust would be crafted with a slimeball and a redstone dust, then this dust can be put on walls.

Take a bucket of flour and throw it at a wall. Does it stick?
Notice: This is Minecraft, not Real-life-craft. Anything is possible, and most of it isn't (wooden pickaxes, pre-cut diamonds in diamond ore, teleporting cats/dogs, etc.)

But that doesn't mean in the slightest that anything should be in the game, just because.
And vertical redstone doesn't make much sense in the first place.
(If you place redstone on the wall, would it connect to other redstone? Redstone on horizontal surfaces? Would it be powered if there was a torch next to it, or does it need to be actually pointing at it? Would it connect to repeaters that are on the ground? On walls? Would it create secondary power on blocks that are adjacent to it? You can tell easily that this idea isn't thought out at all.)
I think that redstone should be able to be placed vertically, it would be very useful and convenient
What about glue infused dust?

Also, oversuggested.
