I know there are probly many topics like this but these are my ideas:
Enchantments
Swords
Unbreaking
Self explainatory
Consume Hunger
Slighty increase the rate at which hunger depletes, for a short time
Armor Crack
Does slightly more damage to armor (Mainly for Multiplayer)
Penetration
Low chance to get a "critical hit"
Pickaxes
Sharp-tipped
Does half a heart more damage (In the case you don't have a sword)
Picks, Axes + Shovels
Strength
Slightly gives more strength to the wielder (Giving a chance to get 2-3 drops(Easier to get than Fortune))
Now for items without enchantments currently
Hoes
Broad-Till
Tills a slightly larger area in one till
Fortune
Chances to get more crops
Unbreaking
Again, self explainatory
Fortune-Till
A chance to get "magic" soil to grow crops quicker for 1-3 times
Fishing Rods
Multiple
A chance to pull up more than one fish
Quickened-Catch
Increase the chance to get fish (Thus increase speed)
Now I said potions but what I mean for that is to somehow bind them with tools so that when holding the tool you have the potions effects, this could be usefull for combat to have strength
I hoped you like my ideas, I would love to see yours
Unbreaking (Sword) - Might be a bit overpowered with diamond swords. Consume Hunger - Almost completely useless. Armor Crack - The damage enchantments we have now are already capable of this. Somewhat. Penetration - Why? You already get a 100% chance of critical hits by just jumping non-stop... Sharp Tipped - Pointless and too situational. This only seems useful when it just so happens that your sword breaks and you can't make another one in time and it also happens that you don't have an axe, so you switch to your pickaxe. An extra half a heart of damage is too trivial to even care about. Strength (Pick+Axe+Shovel) - Why exactly is this called "Strength"? This is a copy of Fortune. Broad-Till - Could get tricky to become used to when trying to make organized tilled areas. Still good though. Fortune (Hoe) - Not bad, but we're given more than enough crops in the game. Unbreaking (Hoe) - Hoes don't seem important enough to even warrant this enchantment. Fortune-Till - Even though Bonemeal can help here, this is still useful for crops when you're not always around them. Sure. Multiple (Fishing Rod) - I like it. Quickened Catch - Pretty good.

Hey, you there. Yes, you! Are you thinking about posting a suggestion on the forums anytime soon? If so, please read this before doing so.
I like this idea. Some of them might not be useful, but I would REALLY like to see them make more of the enchantments apply across many different tools (they can put "unbreaking" on any tool).
"Not always"? Enchanting is overpowered. Give me a counterexample.
Either way, the fact that it can be overpowered means that it is overpowered.
It takes a lot of mining, smelting, and fighting to get a decent enchantment. And bookshelfs are a pain to get legit if you don't have a lot of sugarcane. And half the time, you get a crappy enchant like Unbreaking on your pick, and Knockback 2 on your sword, EVEN with level 30.

This signature has absolutely no point at all. And then it has a point to inform you that it has no point, but it has no point because it really doesn't have a point, but it has a point because it tells you it has no point... and ah, screw this.

Any enchantment is better than none, the main problem with bookshelves is leather, not paper, and once you actually get a good enchantment, even if it is on iron gear, you become uberpowered and, quite possibly, more fearsome than a fully diamond-clad person. Looting is one of the worst offenders, a good enchantment allowing you to get up to four times as much leather off a cow as someone without that enchantment, and leather is valuable. Fortune is also a bad offender, allowing you to get, on average, 120% more diamonds.

And these stuff are end-game, you need diamonds for obsidian to build the enchantment table. Your point about fortune is invalid. Who needs leather at the end of the game? You've probably killed enough cows, and maybe have made a farm! Your point about looting is also invalid. And on multiplayer, which armor is usually for, people probably have taken all the diamonds in your current area! You can find an enchantment table easily, but leveling up to level 30 is even more hard with PvP on. Enchantments are end-game, and on Protection, I think it takes more damage off of your armor than HP.

Who needs leather at the end of the game? Anyone who enjoys item frames, books, and dyed clothing.
You've probably killed enough cows, and maybe have made a farm! Your point about looting is also invalid. 1 leather per cow, and you use leather to make bookcases, which are used for enchanting, therefore you would have used at least some of your leather. Again, think of the economy!
And on multiplayer, which armor is usually for, people probably have taken all the diamonds in your current area! It's possible, but there is always more just beyond the horizon.
You can find an enchantment table easily, but leveling up to level 30 is even more hard with PvP on. Unless you are clever enough to kill someone with a large amount of Experience Points.
Enchantments are end-game, and on Protection, I think it takes more damage off of your armor than HP. Actually, it turns Health Damage into Armor Damage, so you are completely incorrect.

It's hard criticizing ideas when one is tired, so you'd better appreciate it when I criticize yours.

The only kind of enchantments I'd support are on things without enchantments currently. (fishing rod, hoe, flint, shears. But not too many for them.)
I would love it if you checked out my "about me" page on my profile and looked at my threads
I'm always happy to see new posters.
