Do you think that chain armour should be crafted? Instead of having to give yourself fire or chain armour why not be able to earn fire somehow? If your ever struggling on finding iron to make armour and can only find 1 or 2 pieces. Maybe we could get a flint and steel light fire then earn the fire by punching it. By punching the fire you create or the fire from the nether could get you chain armour. The good thing is you don't have to look all over caves to get iron. All you would need is a flint and steel. Then simply just hit the fire and you get a fire block. :Flint and Steel:
Wow, iron is hard to find for you? I usually have a few chests of iron laying around. The way you obtain Chain armor is buying it from villager blacksmiths.
P.S. The iron you just wasted on the flint and steel could have gone towards the armor. No Support
This would mean that chain armor would be almost unlimited. You could get 65 fire from one flint and steel, which makes about 3 sets of chain armor per flint and steel, which is incredibly overpowered. Iron armor would become obsolete, and diamond armor would be used only incredibly rarely, just because of the ease of getting chain mail armor.
Incredibly OP. No thank you and no support.

I would want to see chain armor craft-able but not using fire place 4 iron ingots into a ring like this

to create X amount of iron rings, then the rings can be placed to make the armor
There was a mod - I forget what it's called - that added Iron Chains, you could get two for every iron ingot you placed on a grid, and ICs (I think I have the name right) made Chainmail.
As to this...yeah, villagers trade chainmail, and you never even HAVE to mine an emerald in your LIFE to start trading. Loads of Farmer NPCs will trade you wool or wheat for an em, and from there you're set.
not a bad idea jupiter, but it would take more iron to make chain mail than normal iron armor and they give almost the same amount of armor anyway, so it would really just be a fashion statement.

Don’t quote me. And Don’t quote me on not wanting to be quoted either.

You do realize that chainmail is only as strong as gold anyway, right? I doubt people would stop using iron armor, and especially diamond armor, just because chainmail would be easy to get. Anyway, maybe there could be another way without flint and steel... Perhaps just combining iron ingots and leather to create the armor itself in order to avoid adding a crafting recipe for chains. But in the meantime, as everyone else stated, villagers can trade chainmail armor, so that's one way to get it for now.

It might be worth noting that Chain Armor only provides 48% Damage Reduction, while Iron provides 60% Damage Reduction.
Either way, making fire obtainable in the inventory is simply a horrible idea.
It's also been suggested before.
