Allocator Pipes and More Automation A detailed way of adding automation without taking away Minecraft.
TL;DR:
Adding more automation without becoming the beast that is Tekkit.
Background:
Allocators are a new planned block for 1.5. They will be able to move items from chest to chest, minecart to chest, etc, automatically. However, they can be better. This is how they can.
Allocator Pipes:
Allocator Pipes will work similar to redstone in that they need to be 15 blocks from an Allocator, which is like the power source. To funnel items into a pipe, an Allocator in the right direction must be placed adjacent to the container to indicate the direction you want items to go in. The pipes would produce light similar to redstone and slowly dwindle down until an unpowered pipe.
Blocks move in whichever direction they first started in, or if they go downhill they follow down, or if it is at the end of a pipe it will move away from the end. While this may seem confusing, it's how powered rails work. Think about the blocks as minecarts and the pipes as rails, and it makes sense.
Pipes can move uphill or downhill. Items may or may not make it uphill, depending on if there is enough power. Really, it's like a minecart—it may or may not make it up the hill, based on the starting velocity. Pipes can carry blocks straight up, but only if there is 50% power or less, meaning your allocators must be spaced much closer.
Allocators, unlike the complex steam engines, simply connect to the pipes like a redstone torch does to a wire. To power an allocator, forget about adding 500 MaW or whatever to it, just connect it to some redstone and done.
More Automation:
With pipes, more automation can be done. For example, the following things will happen:
Pipe goes into tilled dirt block for auto planting
Pipe goes into any storage container to take items in or out, depending on the Allocator direction.
Pipe will move items from a container to a minecart.
Why do we ever want this?
As a builder, you want to be able to summon carts to you. Imagine in Vanilla Minecraft being able to call down a Minecart with the tools you need.
Isn't it over-complicated?
No. Unlike Tekkit, which utilizes strange hodge-podge (i.e MaW and other strange fuels) we are using the same mechanics used now, like redstone current strength and minecart physics.

I have discovered a truly remarkable proof of this, which this margin is too small to contain.

I like the pipes, although I'd rather use separate blocks for block-breaking/ hoeing/etc.
I have a thread on that. Look under "New machines for the redstone update"
Otherwise, support.
I completely support addition of pipes for the allocator!
Pipes should be crafted from glass, either blocks or panels, so you could see your items flowing through it, and only 1 tier.
Liquids can be transported through pipes, but if water and lava collide inside a pipe they will transform that pipe into a block of obsidian.
If items and water collide, the water will sweep all the items with it wherever it is going, even though the items were supposed to go into another pipeline via another allocator.
Just imagine the complex sorting and delivery machinery the community will design with pipes.
I know, I love seeing sethbling's new stuff after a redstone update!

Thanks! Personally, I didn't want to make it too complex...
