During minecon Jeb answered the question of whether or not to have a red dragon in the game. Jeb says it is a daunting task to create the coding for this type of mod but I propose an idea that could make the task somewhat easier and could improve the ai for all flying mobs that exist in the overworld and the end. I disclude the nether because of the crazy land generation and the fact that it has a roof. Upon one of the upcoming updates you could create a new biome that wouldn't change any land generation and in fact wouldn't be noticable. This biome would be named "air" and would only occur in the overworld above a specific y-value, this would be the only area for flying mobs to occur (discluding the bat) in both the end and the overworld. This would make for much easier coding when it comes to flying mobs included in the the two dimensions, thus making later updates less of a hassle.
Perhaps, they could only spawn over a certain biome?
