Ifinally got some potatoes and carrots on the game, so I made a fairly large farm half carrots and half potatoes. After a short growth time I've got loads of them, but what do I do with them? Bake them? Eat them raw?
ASit stands potatoes are kinda useless and carrots have a few uses, potatoes don't get rid of much hunger much raw or baked, and baking them is a bit of a waste of coal IMO. Carrots are only good for potions and breeding pigs(still can't find any on my seed). So I suggest we have potato pies and carrot cake, similar to pumpkin pie just with potatoes/carrots. Crafting one would consist of six potatoes/carrots one sugar and one egg and fill five hunger. Maybe poison potato pies would be added to for multi-player. Pumpkin pies therein would also heal five or more, seeings how pumpkins take longer to grow. Feedback and improvements would be much appreciated.
Potatoes are the best farm food in the game. They give about 3-6x the amount of food as a wheat farm. Farming animals takes a while to rev up. Potatoes are amazing early-game.

Ionly just now found a village, they had none, the only way I managed to make a big farm was from my zombie grinder. I've already made five different bases and never seen a pig nor enough zombies to drop any potatoes. As for wheat, I don't really manage one, as you said it takes longer to grow and bread does the same as a baked potato. Potatoes take coal to cook them though and three wheat is less loss then coal. As for animal farms, I've got way to many sheep enough cows to not flood my base and I thrive off of pumpkin pies so at least twenty chickens per mining area along with ten pumpkins/sugar cane. Just wish pumpkin pie was like cake and could be placed like regular blocks. Just think a house made of pumpkin pie!!!

Ahh, well I've been living off of potatoes in my survival world, coal is common as , and I think that getting up to 3 extra potatoes which I need to cook is a lot more economical than getting 1 wheat from 1 plantand then having to harvest 2 more plants to get one bread.
Only real use for wheat is breeding. Potatoes give you loads of food without the hassle of breeding animals.
