Multiplayer, or Caves and stuff.
I'll post Notch's schedule here...
1. Start work on multiplayer, and use the MacBook Pro I ordered last week to test how well it works. (this also means mac support should get better)
2. Invite people from IRC to help test multiplayer
3. Release test multiplayer server software
4. Implement the missing features from indev into infdev (item shadows, flowers, caves, mushrooms)
5. Make a level loader for infdev, that loads old maps (creative, survival mode test) and indev maps
6. Replace indev with infdev
7. Wait until it works
8. Replace all public versions with indev/infdev
9. BETA
Personally, I want Caves implemented before multiplayer.
I would rather have the "Full game" and wait for Multiplayer, instead of 3/4s of a game and Multiplayer.
Don't get me wrong. If it's going to take Notch 189746 more days to finish Multiplayer because he's working on implementing caves, I would prefer Multiplayer.
Well then, allow us to relocate the spawn point to an unexplored (and newly cave'd) area.
For me, infdev doesn't feel quite complete because of the lack of caves.
This is the suggestion thread, is it not? This is a suggestion.
Edit: ....I am not Fubukiyo's siamese twin, before you start saying that, btw. *stares at fubukiyo*
Seriously? You want some premade caves before the revolution of Multiplayer?
Do you have some sort of mental disorder, or are you just that selfish?
Think about it. If caves aren't part of the procedural map generator when multi-player launches, for the first few weeks/months it's not in the game, all the land generated in infdev multi-player will be cave-less, and then after caves are added back in there will suddenly be random caves in all newly traveled land.

Yeah I guess you could be right. But whatever, it's hot and I'm unusably grumpy.
i think when he replaces indev with infdev that caves will be implemented, because if there is no indev there are no caves at all, this will not go well with the community

On the main page it says "Survival Test" this implies that it will be replaced with indev. Also "Replace all Public versions with indev/infdev" so you will have no problem playing indev. In the end indev is just a test of survival features and infdev is where its at.

Wow.
Anyway, I think if he wants to bring infdev up to snuff before real MP is released, that's his choice. I know I'd like to be able to explore caves with my friends the day MP comes out, so I'll say yes to caves. I don't really have a preference though. Whatever's easiest for Notch. :biggrin.gif:
Look, its multiplayer THEN more stuff, so live with it. He is working on survival MP as we speak (probably). just be patient and enjoy the indev caves for the moment.

Magic have a bigger priority than Technology when it comes to combat, but Mining and Crafting a bigger priority to Magic.

It looks to me like he's releasing a test version of MP first, but it's not exactly clear whether or not this will be public. Anyway, you don't have to be so assertive.
