This email is not about survival servers in any way, shape, or form, besides this statement.
You can see that in Creative mode, the server count is sky rocketing. This is hurting everyone. New and old servers alike are suffering from what I will call User Drought. My server has recently started up again. Usually the normal on my server was about 7 people on at a time. Recently, the most I got was 6, the average being 3. This is odd, considering there are nearly 200,000 users now, compared to the 75,000 there were when my server was normally up. This is because when my server was normally up, there were about 100 public ones. Now there are about 300 public servers! And you tried to put a 32 user cap on servers, but with the introduction of custom scripts, a lot of servers have a 255 user cap. Those servers seem to rake in even more people.
Now, with this many servers and this many slots and this many users, many servers are bound to crumble. A lot of servers are duplicated and are just useless. What I am proposing are a couple ideas to cut down on things.
[*:2atg5eb9]You can make it so only premium users may run a server. This may require a lot of work, like a new server owner rank and name recognition that is nearly impossible to hack.
[*:2atg5eb9]You can eliminate custom servers (Not recommended, this will anger many)
[*:2atg5eb9]You can have people apply for a server, and those with the best knowledge and leadership skills will get a server.
[*:2atg5eb9]Something else that your brilliant mind can think of that mine can't.
These things could cut down on servers, allowing more traffic per server. But with less servers comes more griefing. I know you are against this, but you really should delete proven griefer accounts. Add a global ban or something. Of course, these people would have to be recorded in the act and it must be known that the server had verify names set to true.
Also, when I started my server again, people told me there were impostor servers. To end impostor servers, you can have it so users with premium accounts can own the name of a server and no one else can use it. This would end impostor servers for premium members.
One last thing would be server passwords. You can have it so a server owner can edit the password and the rules of the server. If they don't want a password, then can set it to false. Now, the people joining the server get prompted with the rules, and they hit Ok. If there is no password, they are brought directly to the server. if there is, they must enter it. This would make it so people won't need private servers.
