I don't know if this is already suggested, but I was thinking that Minecraft should have controls for people that like to hook up their 360/PS3 controller to their computer. The movement controls would be obvious- left joystick for moving the player, right joystick moves the camera. The inventory button could be the bottom of the four buttons on the right (Me poor and no have Xbox or PS3 so me no know name). The drop item button could be the top button. The chat button won't be on there because you can't type with a console controller. The attack button could be the top left front button. The activate button could be the top right front button. Jump could be bottom left, sneak bottom right. I'm not sure about the switching hotbar controls, but I guess it can be the arrow pad.
Now, some people (Me) don't have a 360 or PS3 controller, and have one that's older than the 2, so it has a different design not compatible with the others and the controller is completely unusable. (Philips SGC2909BB/27 controller, by the way) You should be able to tell the game what controller you have so you can use it.
Some people might not like the default controls, so it should have a changing system like Portal 2's. Basically, it has a list of all the things on the controller on the left, and on the right it has a button that you press and it goes through the list of actions. On the very top, there's a button for choosing what controller you have.
It's not that hard to use a keyboard... No Support.
That is a terrible reason not to support something. Also, just because it is not hard for you, doesn't mean there aren't people who do have issues using WASD. I had a friend in high school who's dad loved to play games, but was missing four fingers on one hand. Games using keyboards were next to impossible, but he was able to manage a controller fairly well.
That being said, this has been suggested many times, so please use the search bar. I support, but would rather it support raw input so you could use just about any kind of controller, not just the big console ones.

It has been suggested? Sorry, I forgot to use the search bar.
To the first replier, I'm not saying it's hard, I'm saying that some people like to do it.

That's all.
