Enderpearls need more uses! Go to http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1584591-ender-dust/ to fix that!
Reason one: It is a challenge to accomplish.
Reason two: It is like finding a Stronghold, so get used to it.
it is most likely never going to be changed, so either find a seed that gives you a advantage.

OP is not saying they shouldn't be rare. They are just saying they are too rare. I think just about everyone on this thread agrees they should be rare. However, they are the rarest things in the game, other than charged creepers. In have never seen one at all without assistance, and I have played long before Beta 1.8. It would just nice to see one in my lifetime, I have nearly forgotten they existed.
AMIDST is an external program that tells you where biomes, strongholds and the such are. The metaphor is essentially saying that just because you know where something is, doesn't mean you don't have to go through the struggles to get there and you know what you will find there (besides a biome)
Why would I want to download something that tells me where things are because I can't find one? That's cheating and it shouldn't go to those measures. Your metaphor isn't important. All you need to do to get somewhere once you've been there is to write down the coordinates and either go on foot with a trail or rout, or have some form of easy transportation. Most people could hardly begin to agree with this.

I help out when I can.
That is exactly it. Expore a circle about 4000 blocks away from spawn and you will find a TON! Just like how Strongholds are approximately in a 600 block circle around spawn.
The most overpowered mob in the entire game. Just bring him back with wheat. Totally worth it.
Exactly. If you want the ultimate overpowered item (the Mooshroom), it deserves to be a long quest. I've been playing on a small private server for a year and we've found one Mushroom Biome. I brought 3 mooshrooms back (took hours), but was totally worth it. Infinite food supply whenever we're in a populated area.
Well, I wish you luck trawling your 50,000 blocks, mushroom islands are intended to be a lucky find, They're not meant to be as common as a plains biome

How many times to I have to say to you, THEY'RE NOT TOO RARE, THEY'RE JUST HARD TO FIND! I was using a plains biome as an example of a common biome, I could have saiid most other biomes. In an ocean biome, you're likely to find 1 island in an 1000x1000 area. Anyway, I do not wish to continue this conversation further, Good Day to you!
Because those people arguing against you do not think they are too rare.
I happen to agree. I have found three which I never visit because they are the biome I like the least. When I'm travelling in the ocean, a mushroom biome is the LAST thing I want to see. Once you find one, (for mycelium and possibly mooshrooms) there is no reason to find more.
