Everithing very nice, but... say hello to robots and computers, and good-bye to automatic farms and so used mechanisms that works with actual piston behaviors.
Don´t support
I don't get what you're saying. How will this destroy automatic farms? If anything it will improve them vastly.
JackStupz: Sadly, no, that would require a huge effort in implementation and is just not worth doing it. Dependent blocks would only be checked 1 block away orthogonally.

This mostly surely won't break farms done using normal pistons. Pushing wheat\sugar canes will still break them. Pushing the block under them though, will move them around, allowing more complex farms that rely on moving plants around to adjust light level (that's just an example). Also, if you put a block where the plant is going to me moved to, you can break it as well, so upward piston farms can still be done to work by putting blocks above it.
Full support from me. Although, would this allow us to push/pull chests? That would really help make griefer and thief-proof chests. Also, cactus traps would be much easier and more efficient to make with this implemented.

You know what would also be epic? A brain! First you put it in your head, then you use it!
Most people spawn with one but I guess you didn't because of a bug.

Yes, it would. Also, it would allow you to push enchantment tables, signs, extended pistons and almost any other tile entities as well. This is actually a necessary requirement for it to work, not an essencial part of the idea. Another change that would be necessary is to allow torches to be able to be placed on pistons, but that can be accomplished quite easily using the code that allowed it on glass blocks.

As much as I dislike this idea because my preferred circuits for one-time buttons and switches utilize breaking off dependent redstone torches from blocks moved by pistons, the sheer number of absolutely wonderful possibilities that come from this suggestion make it 100% worth support.
Guess I'd better make sure I'm well-versed in my alternative one-time circuit options, just in case.
I'm not sure I fully understood all that's being suggested, but I think there are technical reasons why this stuff isn't already in the game and might not be in the future.

Yes, there may be actually lots of obstacles for implementation, but remember that nothing is impossible with java. With some work and dedication, we can make a functioning mod to present mojang in order be implemented on vanilla minecraft.
EDIT: While typing this I had an great idea for 1-wide 1-thick vertical redstone design, one upwards and another one downwards... Adding to the OP soon!
EDIT2:
Tested and discovered it's impossible because of a block update bug with pistons. :'( It used the idea of pistons pushing levers that power other pistons and so on.

May I copy this thread to the Minecraft Suggestions Subreddit and give you credit?
Dinnerbone always looks there for new ideas so the possibility of him discovering this is high.
EDIT:
I've created a Reddit post with a link to this forum, but it would look much nicer if I used segments from the forum post in the Reddit post.
Really? Then, you can take any segment of the suggestion... As long as you link to the original thread.
That could be our chance to make this idea reach Mojang developers and (maybe) be added as part of the Redstone Update!
(If old thingies works too i support) But that thing's dangerous, it needs limitations.

What an idea, though. A+ I approve.

For some reason I am reminded of this.

I love this idea! Let's get it in game

That's what we're gunning for. We should send this to DB and Jeb.
