So, I had this Idea. What if getting damaged in certain ways caused status effects?
For example, lets say TNT explodes next to you, but you survive. If the idea was implemented, you would get 'deafness', causing you to here no sounds in game except a quiet, high pitched noise. As though your eardrum had burst. The effect would be like a potion effect, and would wear off eventually.
And what if there was a chance to get the nausea status effect when you are poisnened? Or if swimming in a Taiga biome in exposed water for to long caused a 'freezing' effect? Or taking a lot of damage at once would cause a 'shock' effect, which would only effect you a while after you got it? This would give a level of depth to the game, walking away from incidents with side effects.
What would the shock effect be?
Wouldn't the eardrum thing be not only realistic but also annoying?
Where would we put a new bar for freeze level?
Do we need a new bar for freezing?
If we make MC this realistic, have we really made it better?

I have discovered a truly remarkable proof of this, which this margin is too small to contain.

I actualy like this idea. As creative and addicting as Minecraft is, the gameplay itself is about as shallow as a game
can get away with. It's fun due to the highly editable survival-based world, but it would be a lot better if it included, well yeah, more stuff actualy HAPPENING. And so, I shall repeat myself, this is a very nice idea that would add depth to a simple "get-hit-get-hurt" hazard system.
If we make MC this realistic, have we really made it better?
It's not jsut about realism. It's about DEPTH! Let's face it. Biome specific hazards
(freezing water etc.)? None. Various effects from being injured variouse ways?
Only two, fire, and poison, which are the same bloody thing but with different visual effects.
Seriously. This game lacks any sort of actual gameplay depth at all.
Break a block. Place a block. Slap a mob with a weapon that has no
unique physical properties like swing speed and wieght. Minecraft is a novel concept
that has been executed better by games like Terraria and Castle Miner Z (OMG
ACTUAL CHALLENGE!!!! WHAT WILL WE DO?!?!)

shock could slow your movement.
It could simply cancel sound effects for 5 seconds, how often are you hit by tnt?
Agreed, but you can simply be stopped from movement if you stay under to long.
It does not have to be exactly realistic, everything in the last few updates have included realism, it has gotten better.
Sorry for jumping at you, but your statements are invalid in my mind.

Swimming in cold biomes should give status effects, however.
I have a Spoon. Your argument is invalid.
