All right, before I start, I just want to say that this is just something I thought of that I figured would make the game a little more interesting. It's not really revolutionary or major in any way.
Now, we all know about the strength potion. Once drank, this potion will boost your strength against monsters, whether it be through punching a mob, slicing a mob with a sword, or shooting your bow. That all makes sense, of course, because when you get stronger, you'd obviously be able to do more damage against monsters.
But what if your strength went further than combat?
What if, when you drink a strength potion, you'd be able to throw throw-able items further, or toss items on the ground further?
For example, you'd be able to toss the enderpearl / egg / snowball further than you could before. You'd be able to throw an item onto the ground further than you could before (pressing q to drop a piece of cobblestone).
That's all that would be modified about the strength potion. Chances are you aren't asking yourself this question:
"But if strength potions make you be able to throw further, what about weakness potions?"
Weakness potions would do just the opposite of the strength buff with items. When you go to throw something, it would go even less far than before. Basically the opposite of everything that the strength potion buffed.
It's not a huge game-changer, but it's a slight tweak that I think would add some interesting new aspects to the strength and weakness potions. Thanks for reading this suggestion, and I would greatly appreciate your criticism, support, or discussion.
Seems pretty interesting, I like it. Although, being able to drop items on the ground with Q further seems like it would be more of a nuisance than a benefit, but maybe you meant it to be that way.
That'd be interesting. I'd probably never use the added benefits, since I rarely need to throw ender pearls and I haven't done so since 1.0.0 or so and the only splash potions I have are healing ones destined to blow up at my feet where distance doesn't matter.
