Seriously, I really HATE the new gravel texture. And now the food texture is changed in 1.4? I hate that too. I had to copy the old texture and paste over new.
Thanks a lot. You killed the old gravel that was much more identical to classic gravel. Now I have to copy the old textures and paste it over new textures.
I also get mad with the new leather armor texture, it looks a bit uglier. Well, only the tunic. I had to copy the old texture and then I had to change it to white to allow dyes.
Anybody wanted the gravel and food textures changed back to original?
Seriously, you have to stop changing the default texture.
I suggest that gravel texture be changed back to original, it was more "realistic". The new texture is horrible.
If you need to know what the texture looked like, look it up on Minecraft Wiki.
1) Open minecraft.jar
2) Open terrain.png and replace the gravel texture with the old texture by yourself
3) Open GUI folder and items.png, and replace all the food textures with the old textures by yourself
4) ???
5) PROFIT!!!!
Also, way to vote biased opinions in your own poll.

That's what I did.
This suggestion is meant to stop with the default texture changes. They should stay the same.
I personally like the new food. Kinda indifferent to the gravel either way, though. I like texture changes, though. If you don't like them, there's always texture packs and the likes
I happen to agree with Epicness1324 actually, the new gravel looks better IMO.
Though I had no clue they changed the food textures... Edit: Popped open my items.png to take a look at what do you know, they do look different. Look better actually.
Gonna have to say things move forward bud, if you don't like how things look when they update you can always use how it looks in an older version. It's probably a pain to manually update it yourself but what can you do?
I absolutely HATED the old gravel texture. It looked all noisy. I felt like I wanted to puke when I saw it. The new one is better, looks too much like cobble, but better.
As for the food... Eeeeh- I kinda agree with you. The old textures were golden. I think the new ones are fine and I can live with them.
The leather... I hate the pads on the texture aswell, but I know why they added them.
Both sets of textures look better, and after a while you won't even notice they are different. It's probably the change that makes you not like them, not the textures themselves.

They added the pads, buttons, strips, all that to the leather armor so that it's easily distinguishable from regular armor.
(For example, people could wear white-gray leather armor and be easily confused as full iron armor - same with gold and diamond)
honestly most people dont like the default textures regardless. this is why they added texturepacks i would suggest installing optifine or mcpatcher because once you enable high rez support your options for personal preferences increase exponentially making it easier to find something you like without having to modify the terrain manually

However, I hate both gravel textures - they both look equally ugly.
The food textures look really nice and more realistic.
I am ninja'd far too often.

It was realistic alright, realistic to a broken TV signal.
