As always, I am not gonna type a big intro, but here it is. Minecraft lacks machines. It only has eight, which are the crafting table, furnace, enchanting table, anvil, brewing stand, dispenser, command block, and beacon. Minecraft in my opinion needs more simple machines. Here's my ideas.
SMOKE MACHINE
Smoke machines are crafted with three cobblestone on each side, a netherrack in the very center, and a redstone in the center bottom. They look like furnaces, but without anything on the sides. It has a big hole on the top of it. When you power it with redstone, it will emit a thick black smoke, that reaches up to 32 blocks. You can see the smoke from very far away, allowing you to ditch those ugly cobblestone pillars with the torch on top, and replace them with a single block. Particle settings do not affect this, as it would ruin the machine's purpose. Lastly, right clicking the smoke machine with a dye will change the smoke's color. So if you are lost on a server, and tell someone to look for orange smoke, you will set up an orange smoke machine, and hope your friend finds you.
INCINERATOR
Crafted like a chest, but with bricks, incinerators look just like brick blocks. It has a opening on one side. Right clicking it will open a GUI that looks just like a furnace, but with no output slot. The fuel will last eight times longer than a normal furnace, except for lava, which lasts forever. This means a plank will last eight items, coal will last 64, etc. Before shouting "No way! This is OP!" the incinerator produces nothing, but a compact and safer way to get rid of items. It takes 5 seconds for an item to incinerate.
OVEN
An over is crafted with four iron ingots around a furnace. It looks like an iron block, and has a stovetop. This functions just like a furnace, but cooks food items in 5 seconds (opposed to 10,) but anything else 15 seconds. (Ores, cacti, etc.) These can be good for kitchens, and busy resturaunts on servers.
SMELTER
Smelters are crafted with four obsidian around a furnace. It looks like an obsidian block, but with the furnace holes on one side. It functions just like an oven, but smelts ores in 5 seconds, and anything else 15.
CRUSHER
Crushers are crafted like a furnace, but with smooth stone, and a diamond in the middle. It will "crush" items, creating some pre-existing items, and some new ones. It works exactly like a furnace, fuel lasting the same, and taking the same time to smelt. Here's a list of it's recipies.
Cobblestone: Gravel (2)
Obsidian: Crushed Obsidian (1)
Nether Brick: Netherrack (1)
Glowstone: Glowstone Dust (4)
Gravel: Flint (2)
Sandstone: Sand (2)
Sand: 1 in 64 chance of getting gold nugget (1) (A stack of sand may produce one gold nugget.)
Diamond: Causes crusher to explode the size of ghast fireball. (For the lulz)
Crushed obsidian falls like gravel and sand, but takes a looong time to dig with a shovel, making this great for traps on servers.
NETHER FURNACE
These are crafted with eight Nether bricks which make a Nether furnace. Nether furnaces are only used for two things. Creating soul glass, and Nether brick. Nether furnaces run off of the same fuel normally used. Soul glass is created by smelting a soul sand. Soul glass is the same color of soul sand, but it is clear, and blast proof. It can also be made into soul glass panes. Nether brick can be made by smelting one Netherrack. We all know what Nether brick is used for...
IRON CRAFTING TABLE
Iron crafting tables are crafted with four iron ingots. It works exactly the same as a normal crafting table, but it can store your items on the grid, unlike wood ones will drop them on the floor.
So now my fingers are very sore from typing... Does anyone like my ideas?
The smoke machine is less expensive than a smoke machine. Are you guys telling me that you would rather spend all of that for a beacon before using a smoke machine?Love the oven idea and the crusher idea.

Oh, and I support everything but smoke machines and iron crafting tables. Both are largely pointless and beacons replace smoke machines.
I would love it if you checked out my "about me" page on my profile and looked at my threads
I'm always happy to see new posters.
inside joke... you know who you are >.>
