The addition of bats got me thinking. What new mobs do we want? As I was contemplating different biomes, something hit me. Crocodiles for swamp biomes. It would be a welcome addition to water mobs, since squid are the only ones besides fish. Also, we have no water mobs that are hostile as of yet. (I'm still hoping that they will add sharks...)
Why do we need Crocodiles?
Crocodiles would be a good addition to Minecraft because we need more mobs that spawn in water. This would be great for custom maps, an interesting twist to adventuring in swamps, and would add aesthetics to the game.
When/Where would Crocodiles Spawn?
Crocodiles would spawn in swamp biomes. They would not exit the swamp unless aggroing a player. They would spawn both daytime and nighttime, but would only spawn on difficulties easy+
What would Crocodiles do?
Crocodiles, in water, would move at a speed slower than a boat but faster than swiming. On land, they would move at a speed slower than walking but faster than crouching. This makes them more effective in water,
When a player goes within 16 blocks of a crocodile, the crocodile would begin to move towards them, and attack. They would attack at a rate simmilar to a spider, and would deal 3 1/2 hearts of damage while on land and 5 1/2 hearts when in water. They would have 8 hearts.
Drops from crocodiles would include 0-2 scales, which would be used in a new scale armor, or could be used in potions.
Scale Armor?
Scale armor would be crafted using scales in the same pattern as other armor. Scales would be dropped from most reptiles, including crocodiles. Scale armor would be slightly less durable then iron, but with protection between iron and diamond.

I personally don't feel that extra armor tiers are needed. We already have three armor tiers that are rarely used (leather, gold and chain). Instead, let's focus on alternative uses for scales.
-Scales can be brewed into Potions of Swimming, which increase the player's speed in water. A Swimming 2 potion will make you walk through water at the same speed as you can walk on land. This will partially stack with the Depth Strider enchantment in 1.8, allowing the player to move up to 25% faster through water than on land (with Swimming 2 and Depth Strider 3).
-Scales can be used in anvils to repair any piece of armor iron or lower by a small amount. Each scale will repair about 25 points of durability. This means that leather can be repaired instantly, while iron will take maybe 10 to go from very damaged to full. This is balanced by the fact that diamond armor cannot be repaired, and each scale will cost levels to use and increase the cost of repairing each time.
Also, there are a new water mob coming out, actually 2+ have you seen the snapshots?
They only spawn near water monuments (The ones you talk about). You try and see how rare water monuments are.
(EDIT: Ocean monument! My bad!)
Also, they should only be in swamps or river biomes (Sadly there's no such thing as a lake biome). I mean, you don't find crocodiles in the ocean, after all.

These eggs don't need anything - they're just farming views. Thanks for your time!
Lets just say that we don't need another armor tier.

You know who can tell me something I already know? Me. All the time. I'm really good at telling me stuff I already know. I don't need help in that department. I don't know about others, but I can't imagine I'm alone here.
Swamps feel a bit empty. I mean, there's animals and stuff there and I think slimes have a chance of spawning, but they feel like something's missing. I'm all for Crocs being added and even the armor, even though.. blah blah.. no more tiers. I personally don't care if another sub or side-tier gets added. Crocs are known for their strong hides. (obviously going to be much stronger than leather) In fact, I think they only have a few weakspots.
Sorry if this is annoying, but every time a mob that mirrors a mo creatures mob shows up in a suggestion, I have to bring this up. I personally feel a croc wouldn't be a croc if it didn't death roll like it's mo creatures counterpart. Considering one animal/ mob (horses) from the mod got added, I'm all for more of them getting added, especially crocs and rats. I don't want to see everything from it get added, especially stuff like ogres, but some things I feel are badly needed. Crocodiles being one of them. We've had the perfect biome for them since full release or something, so why not?
"I don't plan to add a new dimension at the moment. It's just to performance heavy on servers, and the current dimensions need more attention before we start adding new ones." < Yeah, like biomes or actual varied terrain in the nether. Nether ruins didn't do the trick at all.
8 hearts (or 16 health) is far too low for an armoured -dinosaur-like creature. 11 hearts (or 22 half-harts) is more like it. I don't think crocodile live in swamps, though, I might be wrong. There is a fresh-water and salt-water crocodile. They live in rivers and lakes and of course, salt-water crocodiles live in salty waters (might be a swamp as well). Maybe change it into alligators? Another way is to make a crocodile mob with an alligator type (like wither skeletons). The difference might be aesthetic or better combat. Crocodiles would spawn in rivers and alligators would spawn in Swamp biomes.
I like the scale armour and potion though. Good job on that.

The resistance effect can be gained only through the enchanted golden apple, so it could be used to brew resistance.
I am ninja'd far too often.
Yeah, that is a good idea. I might add it to the OP if people vote for potions.
Thanks!
this is EPIC +1

And Scale armour should be EQUAL to chain
My signature is broken. I am currently fixing it

My best suggestion:
Mobs actually being varied???
