When I was still new to Minecraft, I decided to look through the items in the creative thing. When I hovered over the Enchantment table, I thought it was called "Enhancement Table". I recently remembered this and got this idea:
How to craft one:
(The book has to be a written book)
Appearance:
(Ignore the fact that it says "Enchant", Imagine that it says "Enhance")
Use:
Enhancement tables are used to enhance your weapons only. Before you cry anvil copy, just hear me out. This would be used to power up weapons.
Enchantment buffs:
Enhancement tables can be used to improve existing enchantments on bows and swords. Placing the desired weapon into the slot, along with an emerald in the other slot (yay, useful emeralds!) will cause the three green things on the right to turn purple and have different options.
The first button would allow you to buff a single enchantment of your choice by 1 point (if the enchantment is at level 4, then you can't increase it unless you are buffing a gold sword). This would cost 6-12 levels. The second button would allow you to buff 2 enchantments by one point each. This would cost 12-24 levels. The third button would allow you to buff 3 enchantments for up to 2 points each. This would cost 24-36 levels.
Adding lore to weapons:
An NBT tag can be used to add lore to items, however, this can't be accomplished through conventional methods. The anvil can name items, and enhancement tables can add lore to it. Placing the sword/bow along with a dye will activate the buttons on the right. The first one allows you to have 1 line of lore that is a maximum of 16 characters long. This would cost 2-4 levels. The second button allows you to add two lines of lore that is 16 characters long each. This would cost 4-6 levels. The third button allows you to add 3 lines of lore that are 16 characters long each. This would cost 6-8 levels.
The dye that is put into the second slot will determine the color of the text in the lore. If the slot is left empty, then the text will be white.
Adding potion effects to weapons:
Enhancement tables would be able to add potion effects to weapons. Putting your sword/bow in one slot and a potion in the other will activate one of the buttons to the right. This would cost 10-14 levels for positive potions and 12-16 levels for negative potions. These potion effects would last for 20-35 uses on the item. When a mob/player is hit with a weapon with a potion effect would be inflicted/buffed with that effect. 1/3 of the time of the original potion would be taken from the effect inflicted.
Seems like a good idea. If nothing else it is interesting! But for some reason I am sceptical of it. I think it's the buffing enchantments thing, that is already a function of the anvil.
But the anvil requires two enchanted tools to buff the enchantments, and it also repairs them. The enhancement table requires a single weapon, an emerald, and some xp, and it doesn't repair the weapon.
Support. This would make enchantments a lot better and would also help if you got a lame enchantment so you could make it better. Overall, I like this idea. Diamond.

No support. It effectively nerfs the anvil. A large part of the enchantment system is the random aspect. These systems were designed to be imperfect. The anvil already helps to improve your enchantments, and I feel as though the addition of this would lean toward overpowered end-game type items.

No, not really. Also, I like the idea of adding lore. Supported.
I really do like this idea, but IMO since its stronger than a normal enchantment table it should be harder to craft, becuase most of those things are very easy to get, and the Enchantment table has hard things to craft.

Constructive criticism is welcome!

That means that you support, right?
