As everyone knows, there's been the 1.4 Update which came out, which introduced an interesting new block concept: A beacon.
This beacon, in case you do not, is a block that, when you make a pyramid of blocks under it made out of either gold blocks, iron blocks, diamond blocks, or emerald blocks, will allow for great buffs to be bought from the beacon. This is very handy for bases, offering various buffs such as Jump Boost, Resistance, and Haste, which can't be achieved via potions.
Now, many people have complained about the beacons requiring tons upon tons of mineral collecting in order to create the pyramid. As insignificant as these complaints are, it got me thinking...
What if there was some other sort of block that could be used for the pyramid?
Such as lapis lazuli?
As it stands right now, lapis is used purely as dye. Which is okay, of course, that's what it was made for. But I think that giving it -- and it alone -- the capability of being used for a beacon pyramid would be a good side-use for the mineral.
Support, criticism, discussion or argument is all appreciated. Thank you for reading
It's supposed to be hard. However, the concept of a Lapis Pyramid is fascinating. I hate how its only for lapis lazuli dye, because it is one of my favorite blocks

I love the fact that it's hard. The whole beacon pyramid being made out of different types of ore blocks (and requiring the buffs to be bought with any of the ores of the blocks required) just confused me slightly, because diamonds were obviously far rarer than that of iron, so any normal player would choose iron. I just figured that if it was universally lapis, that would make things more sensible and simpler.
But perhaps the lapis could just be an added ore block type for the pyramid. Maybe it could allow for stronger buffs. Whatever you guys think.
