When you hit a mob, a number pops up that tells you how much damage you did. Also, if you get hit, a red number pops up.
There can be other form such as message where it appears in chat message instead of entity.
By default, it's set at off. There's 3 options.
-OFF
-Entity
-Message
Entity: Damage number pops over mobs. White if you hit mobs. Red if you get hit. Yellow if a mob hit other mob or player. Or if player hit mob and the player isn't you.
Message: It appears in chat messages. If you hit a mob or player, a message can be like this...
"You hit Cow for 5 damage! (Stone Sword)"
"You hit PlayerName for 7 damage! (Diamond Sword)"
If you land a critical hit, it can be like this...
"You critically hit Zombie for 12 damage! (Iron Sword)"
And if you get hit, a message like this...
"You took 4 damage from Zombie!"
If a creeper explodes and you take damage, a message like this can appear...
"You took 12 damage from explosion!"
Why is this suggestion useful? It can serve some purposes.
-Measuring how much damage your enchanted diamond sword does.
-Showing off your highest damage.
-Studying how much damage Creeper explosion does.
-Great for RPG fans.
Message: No support.
Entity: Support, except for that the red numbers are useless, as you can find out in your health bar. 4/5 support. I also suggest putting 'CRITICAL HIT!" above the number if it is one.

Curse PremiumI'm a fan of RPGs.
If you allow people to turn it off, it may as well not be in the game.
