If you die in a hardcore-mode server, you're basically banned. I just thought
of a new idea that would make it way more fun. You'd no longer have to stop
playing with your server buddies again. You would come back as a ghost when you
die. This isn't just a way to not have to leave the sever. Being a ghost would change
the gameplay dramatically. You could help your friends or haunt your killer using
your new ghost abilities. Sound fun? Sound exciting? Read on, and learn of the
new idea that would truly make this the Pretty Scary Update!
The first question: How would you tell a ghost from a normal player?
A player, as a ghost, would still use the same model and the player's current
skin. However, ghosts would be partialy transparent (Let's say it would alpha
you to around 50 percent, or half-transparent). Their bodies would be covered
with the enchant effect, and possibly be tinted slightly pale blue. Last but not
least, the player would ignore lighting value and always be completely lit, much
like the wither. Now, on to the actual properties and abilities of phantasmal players.
Obviously, once you become a ghost, you can't die again. You would be able to float
around slowly. Movement would work a lot like creative mdoe flying, but a bit slower.
You noclip through blocks, and if you try to fly into the void, you will just be pushed back up
at the point where you would normally start dying. You can still break and place blocks, but only
ones that can be harvested by hand. You can not deal DIRECT damage
to players, but you can posses certain inanimate objects (utility mobs included)
To do this, you get close to an eligible object and press "f".
This is where most of the fun of being a ghost comes in. You
will then take control of that object and use its abilities. You will
be completely invisible yourself while doing this.
When you're bored, press "f" again to exit. Here's
a list of hauntible objects and the things you can do with them.
Door (any kind).
Pretty simple. You right click to open and close
at will. Any player trying to open the door you're
haunting will be unable to do so, so you can sue it
to trap noobs in tricky situations.
TnT.
While haunting a TnT block, right click at any time to detonate
it. You can use WASD to scootch it along slowly, about half the
speed of sneaking.
Dispenser
You can right click at any time
to dispense one of the random
items in the dispenser.
Iron golem
This is where it starts getting fun. You can control the
iron golem as if you were playing as it, walka round, jump,
and left click to swing your huge arms and deal massive
damage. While you're haunting an iron golem, the eyes
would glow light blue to alert players so you can't get
cheap kills.
Snow golem.
You can control the snow golem just like the iron
golem. You have no melee attacks, but you can
knock people around by throwing snowballs
with the right mouse button.
Pumpkin
Yes, you can control pumpkins! The pumpkin hops
isntead of walking, sort of like a slime, and coliding
with a mob/player while hopping will cause damage.
That's all of the things you can haunt for now. Another thing
that a ghsot can do is cloak. Pressing "c" will toggle cloak
mode on and off. While in cloak mode, the darker the area
you're standing in, the more transparent you become. In
light level 8 or lower your nametag will not show, and at
light level 5 or lower, you can become completely invisible.
Now, you're probably
wondering "How can I fight an invincible spirit?" If you destroy the block
or mob the ghost is controling before it can exit, the ghost will fly out, spinning
out of control and be unable to haunt anything for about 3 minutes (Which makes
haunting the instantly-breakable TnT risky business). Now what? If the ghostly
player is REALLY giving you trouble, you can throw splash potions of healing.
10 of these will cause the ghost to dissapate and rematerialize 450 blocks away in
a random direction.
It seems a bit iffy, some of the ideas don't make sense and some not good at all. I think tnt detonation, door opening, dispenser, and pumpkin stuff shouldn't exist, just possession of mobs. Otherwise I would fully support if this became an option for hardcore servers or something.
