Vertical minerails, would make a great addition to the game. Ex. Putting minerails on the wall out of a mine you just dug to go straight up to the top or inside a tall building. Would function like an elevator that doesn't take rigging stairs and redstone together and only work 50% of the time.
maybe as an extra block that if you power it the cards will go up. i call it the sticky rail.
if you dont power it, the minecart will go down.
it should be crafted like so:
it is just an idea.
not a bad idea either but just as long as it gets us up and down easier.
I think there needs to be elevators. Even in the most ancient mines, they had vertical transportation techniques, other than ramps and ladders. Mines always have elevators or similar.
There have been some reasons against:
1.) There are significant alternate ways to travel vertically.
Yes, but they either detract from immersion in the game (water elevator), or they are inefficient for transporting goods (ladder).
None of the existing vertical transportation systems integrate with horizontal transportation like having a vertical rail could -- you could have minecarts that go up, over, down, all on the same track, etc.
By the same logic that there are existing alternatives, why not apply that to minecarts and take them out of the game and just walk everywhere. That would be very logical... and no fun at all. People are clammering for elevators.
2.) There are elevator mods.
Yes, but if you want to share a map with friends, then the friend has to load a mod, too. Making maps for the community means either no elevators, or force everyone to also load an elevator mod and watch your download numbers drop. There's a higher probability that elevators in vanilla minecraft will be maintained, than if it's a mod. If mod was an answer, the request for elevators would not continue to pop up.
If you want to say something to me, make sure you quote my post because I don't usually check back on topics.
Adding a couple of diamonds to the rail recipe would make this a much less OP idea.
I like this idea a lot. would look cool too with blue rails along the minerails
not a bad idea either but just as long as it gets us up and down easier.
