In mine craft we have doors. They are your typical 4 windowed doors but to be honest doors are pretty bland. What i would like to see is doors without windows and jail doors.
The windowless doors would be a great addition to a house especially if it has rooms because if you where in your bathroom and your door had windows you would be pretty embarrassed right? Also jail doors would be a good addition for strongholds and for prisons, forts, etc. Wooden windowless doors function just like wooden/iron doors depending on the material you use to make them.
Now jail doors can only be opened two ways. Redstone, buttons, levers, and keys. And to making a jail door you also have the access options to keys. There are 3 types of keys and around the little lock of the jail cell are default colored locks like Stone, Iron, Gold and With the addition to the jail door there are 3 keys. The Stone key the Iron key and the gold key. Using LMB on the jail door with a key in your hand will unlock it. Meaning the use of RMB will open/close it. After the door is in position using an empty hand and punching the door once will release the key from the lock to let you use it.
Now unfortunately i don't have any ideas on crafting recipes but in order to make the Jail door one has to craft iron rods. Also the jail cell door acts the same as a Iron door so you must destroy it with a Iron or more powerful pick.
So in conclusion this idea will give more decorative ideas to what you're building and with the adventure block coming out you can use the jail doors to make the adventure map be more fun. Like look for the key to open the door.
I think this would be cool, but make locked doors that don't break and have specific keys within a 200 block radius, maybe a few layers up/down. This could be a completely new dungeon type, maybe surround the room with obsidian or just lava so you can't dig through. Put really rare item in too, like emerald or diamond, maybe a tricky monster spawner (PLEASE not silverfish, lol), give it a few corridoors to hide different rooms in with the keys. Somebody could really go to town with your idea!
Okay glass doors could be made in addition. Maybe using glass panes and also for the jail door if its powered by red-stone depending on its pre-set properties (in a dungeon) maybe you can't use redstone to open it. Because like Dilexits idea of a special dungeon people could just bring redstone with them and open the door to the treasure room easily.
I agree with this idea it sounds great. I think they should also have it so you can make different sized doors and maybe do locked chests with keys as well.

Eh, smite me.
If you decide to use redstone on the door do you still need a key somehow?
A diamond door with a key, that can't be broken without the proper key inserted for you!!!!
