In 1.4, the bat mob is going to be added, but it's not a hostile mob. I was thinking that, what if, Vampire Bats were added. They looked like normal bats, but are hostile and have red eyes. After attacking them, they become Vampires. The Vampire mob would look like a villager, but it would have red eyes, white skin, and wears all black. They would start at 10 health (5 hearts), but could steal life from the player to add to its own max and regenerate health. I don't know what they would drop on death.
Also, I think that some villagers should be able to become werewolves at night. werewolves would have 20 hearts (double that of villagers) and deal 5 health damage on attack. On death, they sometimes drop leather.
I would love to hear your opinions, good or bad, but if bad, please tell me why.

humanoid mobs, like the witch, really get under my skin. i dont know why. i just hate them. maybe a hostile variant of bats, but god no wherewolves or vampires or wizards or rogues or pirates or anything like that. the witch is bad enough.
I would like them to steer away from creating more mobs for now to be honest. Especially humanoid ones as the post above stated. That being said if bats could turn into humanoid form I guess I wouldn't be opposed to it but not another bat mod...Just modify the original.
