Have you ever wanted to have a train of Mine-Carts but they wouldn't stop 'crashing' or stopping on the rails for no reason? Well, I have what might make for a small mod. It would just be a Mine-Cart connector. You would need two tripwire hooks & a Blaze rod in the middle of them to form a Mine-Cart connector. To form two connected Mine-Carts, you would place a connector in between two Mine-Carts & BAM, two connected Minecarts. If you want to extend them to three or four carts, just do the connecting two Minecarts crafting recipe with connected Mine-Carts replacing one of the normal Minecarts to extend it to three. To make a train of different carts (Like normal Minecart, Furnace Cart, & Treasure Cart), they would need to be that way before you combine them.
Minecarts should be linkable period, forget having to craft something special and exotic to do it. I made this suggestion a while back on the getsatisfaction site before they closed it and I'm still waiting. Perhaps a new recipe for a "linkable cart" that automatically links to adjacent regular carts when they touch on a track. The recipe should be simple and affordable like the normal minecarts since this is something that really should have been implemented a long time ago.

In my opinion, linking minecarts should be done via a craftable connector that is attached to two already placed minecarts. That way you can connect as many as you want (within reason, of course) without being limited by the size of the crafting grid.

I love the idea but I think it is too costly as presented. The comment about linkable minecarts seems to be right on. I think a minecart combined with a trip wire hook would be perfect. It would have to be available for ALL types of minecarts. I do extensive tunnelling both for mineral collection and to avoid surface features on routes I use regularly and carrying all the stuff I mine as well as alternative tools and such can become a problem. Carrying an ender chest and a silk touch pickaxe helps but I'd really like linkable minecarts.
I support linkable minecarts but I also think that it should only require mounting a tripwire hook on the front of one minecart and the back of another to make them link.
Detaching a minecart should be done by hitting the end which you want detached, once. You would then have to move the minecarts away from each other at least 1 block distance before they would reattach by bringing them together again.
I would love it if you checked out my "about me" page on my profile and looked at my threads I'm always happy to see new posters.
