Mkay, so I was looking through some stuff and thinking about Ice caves, where a lake of water in a very cold biome freezes over, but is then drained and the ice layer remains intact. Some people have suggested this before, and some think it would be a nice addition.
Well, I propose a unique idea, that would begin an era of obsidian actually generating in MapGen - Obsidian caves!
----------------------------------------------------------------
Just like ice caves, these caves would form when the lava on top cools down and the rest of the lava leaks out. Maybe there could be a thin layer of water above these, or just a place in the side of a cave where water spills onto the obsidian, making it look real-ish. Inside these caves would be just what you may find beneath a lava lake, as to not add any more things that need to be considered in balancing the game (ex. there wouldn't be a layer of diamond ore around all of the walls, just like there isn't at the bottom of lava lakes)
Here's an image example:

Now, let's discuss whether this is a good idea or not - feel free to post what you think about the pros and cons of this idea, but you don't have to unless you want to.
There aren't truly any pros or cons, but I don't see the need in the effort unless they look better (No offense, I just don't think that looks interesting).

I would love it if you checked out my "about me" page on my profile and looked at my threads I'm always happy to see new posters.
The image I posted was a quick example, sorry if it makes the meaning look dull. Think about, a huge cavern about 20/30 blocks tall, 50/60 wide and 90/100 long, and about 2/3 up is a one-block-thick layer of Obsidian. Ore veins dot the walls, including diamonds and plenty of redstone. I kinda don't have the time to make any more examples, time is short here where I am.
But if you think about it - is it a good idea?
