I have an idea for multiple foods minecraft can add.
1. Banana: In jungle biomes, there could be banana trees. When the saplings start falling off after a tree lost all its wood, a banana would sometimes appear, similar to an apple. It would restore 1 hunger.
2. Pumpkin pie: When you collect pumpkins, you can cook them in a furnace to create cooked pumpkin. Then, in the crafting table, you get a bowl on the bottom middle and a cooked pumpkin in the middle which makes pumpkin pie. It restores 3 hunger.
3. Grapes: only on vines. When you destroy a vine, there is a small chance that grapes can fall out. You can eat grapes 6 times and each one restores 1 hunger.
4. When you destroy spruce (pine) tree, you can sometimes collect sap. When you have 4 sap, you can do a 2x2 sap square on the crafting table. It will create syrup sap. When you put syrup sap in the middle and a bucket at the bottom middle, you will get syrup which restores your hunger by 3.
5. Honey: When you are in a forest biome and you cut down trees, you can sometimes find bee hives. You better leave them alone or if you touch them, an angry swarm of bees will appear. Swarms will ussually come in swarms of 20-30. They fly faster than you so there is no point in running. The only way to get them away is by either using a sword and slash randomly in the direction of the bees which will kill them slowly or running at least 100 blocks away or jump into water. Then, you can collect the beehive which you can craft into 4 honey. Each honey will restore 2 hunger.
6. Honey syrup: Easy. In the crafting table, put syrup on the bottom middle and honey in the middle. It will create honey syrup which will restore 6 hunger.
Thank you for reading and please reply with anything you want like other ideas or things you don't agree with.

Until we can taste the food in minecraft, new food is unnecessary unless you have a really good reason for it.
And ewwww who drinks syrup straight out of a bucket?

MInecraft has been adding a lot of new food since 1.8 .
The syrup and honey are kinda useless, but I think the bananas and grapes are good ideas.
Though they are included in some mods, they should be added to vanilla.
Support.

Jungle leaves already drop cocoa beans.
2. Pumpkin pie: When you collect pumpkins, you can cook them in a furnace to create cooked pumpkin. Then, in the crafting table, you get a bowl on the bottom middle and a cooked pumpkin in the middle which makes pumpkin pie. It restores 3 hunger.
Already in the game, sorry.
3. Grapes: only on vines. When you destroy a vine, there is a small chance that grapes can fall out. You can eat grapes 6 times and each one restores 1 hunger.
A slice of watermelon restores the same amount as a single grape.
Screw logic.

*facepalm
You don't make maple syrup from pine sap.....
It's called MAPLE syrup for a reason...

Meh, don't see a point to this.
Also, jumping into water doesn't help you in any way against bees.
When you come up to the surface for air, which you'll have to eventually, bees swarm at your face.
And a single bee sting to the face hurts by itself, imagine hundreds of them.
6. Honey syrup: Easy. In the crafting table, put syrup on the bottom middle and honey in the middle. It will create honey syrup which will restore 6 hunger.
If you pour pine sap into a jar of honey, then all you'll get is honey covered with resin.
And no, it won't be edible.
