(Old idea from http://www.minecraft...1-milk-potions/) Call me crazy, but what if you are fighting a dude that has decided to kill you using all his buffed up magicks? How about a way to use a splash potion against him that could nullify all his active effects?
I do tend to think that drinking milk to nulify negative effects was kind of cool, but it does make me wonder if cows have magic nipples sometimes. ._.;; But it does annoy me a little that drinking milk would cost me my buffs.
So how about adding three types of potions, each with a splash effect? Perhaps called "Nullify" potions, "cure" potions, and "relapse" potions? Though it is sad to say that the emediate effect of drinking milk straight from the bucket might have to be moved to these potions for this idea. The milk buckets only purposes would then be used as ingridients for food and brewing. I suppose drinking milk could be changed to prevent ones hunger bar from shaking and counting down when one grows hungry, temporarily.
Nullify potions could be created by brewing a milk bucket into thick or mundane potions. (It won't take the bucket.)
But how to create the cure and relapse potions? Perhaps just add either redstone or glowstone dust? Glowstone for the cure potions, and redstone for the relapse potions. And just add gunpowder to create splash potions.
(New idea)OH WOW I HAVE AN APPIFANY! Seeing as though the nightvision potion has another brewing stage to aquire the invisability potion, I'm thinking about a different potion combination to this idea.
How about brewing a milk bucket to either instant harm potions and instant heal potions to create 'relapse' potions and 'cure' potions respectively? Sadly I'm thinking about cutting the middle man out and leaving the idea of a potion to negate all effects. This seems like a good alternative in my opinion.
And how about milk halving all potion effects when drinked? Or maybe just fill half a drumstick? (Restore 1 hunger point.)
I think you are making it WAY, just WAY too complicated. The only thing that needs to be done is make milk able to be put in a bottle, perhaps by right-clicking on a cow? Then it would be a simple task to just brew the milk with gunpowder and you have yourself a ranged de-buff. I was thinking about posting this same suggestion, but realized that many others probably already did, nice to see that I were right! Perhaps make the milk-bottle "edible" for a worth of i food bar as well as a personal de-buff.
I support the concept, but I personally think my own twist on it makes it much more manageable and minecraft-like.
Adding too many new features and(or) running over pre-existing ones tend to become quite un-approved.

And the fact that one has to brew a nightvision potion with a fermented spider eye to get an invisibility potion is any different?
I don't mean to snark, but the potion brewing recipes is a LITTLE complicated already.
