I have a Minecraft idea. When you kill a mooshroom, it should drop mooshroom eyes. Mooshroom eyes are used for protecting yourself from all hostile mobs, even the Ender dragon! You put them on like putting on a helmet. One mooshroom eye only protects you from spiders, but if you have two mooshroom eyes (stack them), it protects you from all hostile mobs. Although mooshroom eyes don't protect you from mad wolves, yet it protects you from mad pigmen and endermen. Mooshroom eyes look like the eyes on a mooshroom.
... I don't believe this has been suggested before; I'll give you that much. Otherwise? This is rather ridiculous. You're proposing that we're plucking out the eyes of these mushroom-cows, that we wear the eyes like a helmet, and that it will protect you from hostile mobs. It's a rather disturbing prospect, and rather overpowered, to boot.
"But mooshrooms are really rare!" you might say. No matter how rare a material is, it should never grant a person god-like immunity from mobs; especially if it's an item without durability.

Are you always so pessimistic?
Yes, yes I am. A pessimist is always either right, or pleasantly surprised.

Egads..this is World of Warcraft meets Battlefield 1942 in a dark alley with way too much to drink and no discarded mattress nearby.

It seems ridiculous, but you see, hostile mobs don't harm regular mobs. So, the hostile mob might think "Oh, it's just a strange mob-person". Although, the protection from the Ender Dragon won't work, as the Ender Dragon blows up anything that doesn't belong in the End.Ah, what the heck, there's no use to this topic.

Mabye, a bit off the topic, if you throw a 'mooshroom eye' like a ender eye, or an egg, it will fly towards the nearest Mooshroom Biome? Or diamond vein? Or mabye they only protect you from 60, 50 or 40 percent of the damage, but inflict you with 'Weakness' while you have them on.
Hope this helped!
And that's why I said there's no use to this topic. I found a better way to protect from evil mobs.
I know it has no support.

Keep thinking! Maybe something under that interesting concept, but a little bit less out of the ordinary! Great ideas dont just come in a few minutes. Improve on your previous ideas, and add in and take note of suggestions by others.Good Luck!

Hey, maybe, if you throw a mooshroom eye it takes you to the nearest mushroom biome! And villagers sell mooshroom eyes.
This is just plain disturbing.
We kill innocent Mushroom/Cow Hybrids, rip their Eyes out of their skulls, and put them on our heads?
(Gag)
It's also overpowered. Just go exploring for a few minutes and you'll find a Mushroom Biome sooner or later, and then you're invincible.
No support.

Curse PremiumPlus, you don't 'wear' eyes as a helmet. They would rot, give off smell, be disgusting etc.
