In this game mode, you can't die. You can still take damage but you CAN'T die.
Your health will stop lowering when it's at 1/2 heart. Even if you have that amount of health left, the health bar still flashes.
No Death is a variant of Survival. It's designed for newbies or players who don't like death. Hostile mobs will still be able to damage you.
Possible idea: If your health is at 1/2 heart, you move at 1/2 the normal speed and can't sprint. You have to be in safe area for 30 seconds then your health will regenerate.
The only way you can die in this game mode is if you fall into void.
Can you get bones in peaceful mode? No. How about rotten flesh, spider eye and gunpowder? No.
I'm sure you haven't read the first post fully.
Yes, yes, no, yes.
You can get bones and rotten flesh in temple chests, and you can get gunpowder in dungeons. Spider eyes are useless in peaceful because you don't need food, nor do you have any use for potions other than night vision and speed.
No way. Too easy, and this wouldn't help newbies, it'd just make them expect to be invincible when they play Survival, making them somewhat worse.
No support.

It is NOT a difficulty. It's a GAME MODE. Once you choose Survival, you can't change to No Death. However, if you change difficulty to Normal or Hard, the No Death effect is at OFF. If you switch to Peaceful or Easy, the effect is turned ON, only if you're in No Death game mode.
You can still die in Peaceful. I just don't like losing items on death and then I have to make a beeline to death point.
And hostile mobs don't spawn in peaceful.
Minecraft is a bit too hard for me, even on Easy. And peaceful is too easy.
Peaceful: Too Easy
Easy: Not easy enough.
I'm the type of player who doesn't want to die but finds peaceful too easy.
Sounds like you could benefit from a few things.
First off, I'd like to show you NBTExplorer, a program that allows you (at your own risk) to edit the data files of your minecraft world. Within your world file, select level.dat/data/gamerules/keepinventory and set the value to true. This works even if your world has cheats disabled.
Second, if you have cheats enabled, give yourself a set of gold armor.

Really not that hard. Minecraft is easy enough already
Just play on peaceful and use the /give command. There's really no good reason to add this.

True, but how else will he actually know what's wrong with his suggestion?

That sounds like a better idea.
