So with the introduction of cobblestone and mossy cobblestone walls in the 1.4 update, I think they should add a stone gate for these walls. It would be the equivalent of the fence gate that goes with wooden fences. This seems like it would be rather simple to implement. What do you think?
I haven't really seen a lot of stone gates.
Wouldn't it be kinda hard to push the heavy stone gate?
And wooden gates just look good. They can be used with the stone walls.
The player can hold an entire mountain in his pockets. I don't think pushing open a stone gate will be a problem.
Well, maybe instead of a stone gate made literally out of stone, they could add a basic wire gate made out of iron? I think this would complement the grayish tone of cobblestone much better than the brown color of fence gates.
Support. I also like some iron gates to be added.
The stone gates should be crafted like wooden gates do, except that you replace the wooden planks with cobblestone and the fences with cob walls.
The iron gates should be crafted in a trapdoor fashion, except that you use iron bars and it only yields one gate.
I don't know how the stone gate should look like, though. lol
The iron gate will have the same placement rule as wooden gates, and they can be mirrored like double doors.

Your proposed iron gate recipe conflicts with the iron bar recipe. What about iron bars on the sides and ingots in the middle 2 slots?

It does not conflict with anything man, re read my post.
"except that you use iron bars and it only yields one gate."
Iron bars as in Iron bars, not Iron ingots. lol

Support this idea and agree with the iron bars>ingots>bars recipe, just like a wooden gate. May be since it's iron allow it to be redstone powered like the iron door.
I like this idea, but I wouldn't want it to be an iron gate like people above are wanting, that would contrast with the stone just like the wooden gates do.

Are iron bars not close enough to an iron form of sticks?

I'd like to see this with:
Stone brick walls (both moss and cracked variety.)
Sandstone walls (Smooth & normal)
Iron Fences
Netherbrick fence gates
Gates for all of the above
I support whole heartedly.
