npc's have jobs. but do they do them? NO! they may as well be unemployed.
so here are my ideas on what each npc should do:
librarian: they would "rearrange" books. they would walk up to a bookshelf, grab a book, and put it in a new bookshelf. they would also read through books (like editors) and write books (wich they out in a chest)
blacksmiths:they would make items.. DERP!
farmers: they would hoe, make farms, plant seeds, and harvest crops. they would put their crops in their homes,
priest: the priest would cast spells and heal the sick.
also, they should work 3 days and idle 3 days (think what they do know for Idling)
more is on the way!A good thing about this is, raiding villages is more profitable (if that is your kind of thing). right now, you get books and blacksmith loot and a bit of wheat, and what you can get from blowing up homes. now, homes would have resources. also, their could be a builder to grow the village. soon, a humble npc VILLAGE will be a nice npc CITY! think of the posibilites!
Great idea. I guess the NPC's would work similarly to the Millenaire mod.
Maybe raiding the village would be quite risky, the iron golem attacks if you steal or harm the citizens.
Or add another NPC knight/guard that protects the village.
... Bookshelves can't store books. And if they could, imagine making your own library next to a village. You write many books and organize them. Then a sneaky librarian comes in and rearranges your books. No.
Who made you think its your books, its the villager' books. your books are safe
What... DERP! "they would make items" what do you mean what
They randomly throw diamond swords around? What?
Wow, my guess is more like: they have preset ressources (not op) and they periodically make stuff from it
Made a base near a village? Too bad, these dudes will steal your crops! And they will also ruin the landscape by randomly making farms because Villagers being wheat generators is balanced.
their own crops! a i'm sure 2-4 extra farms won't do much difference. as long as its limited to 2-4 extra farms
what
Do you know what is a "priest" a person of praying type
And what do you mean by "the sick"? Damaged villagers? Players? All mobs?
my guess is villagers and friendly mobs and player
Think of the possibilities, waking up in the morning and seeing your base surrounded by farms and houses.
well, I guess there could be an option that for 2 diamonds, you could make the builder stop
Automatic Support for anything that inloves villagers.

well, the blacksmiths put their items in chests, they make an item every once in a while
the librarians don't REALLY rearrange books, they just make it LOOK like it...
and for farmers, that could be useful, they put the crops in a chest so you can just have them do the work then steal the crops back (they are technically yours) and you are happy and maybe the could not open iron fence gates, a new block similar to iron doors. then, they couldn't steal your crops at all!
and presets healing the sick... yeah, that was vague. how about hurt mobs? that works...thanks for the support, guys! I didn't know it would get this much...

LOL If they did, there houses wouldn't just be placed here and there but they could actually build up there town... themselves.
