Spawn Conditions: Any light level unless directly exposed to sunlight.
Health: Ten hearts. (20)
Damage: N/A
Physics: Able to pass through any block as if it were just an air block.
Sounds: During normal behavior, it will emit the Stare sound (or similar) featured at the end of this video.
When rushing at the player, it will emit the Scream 4 sound (or similar) from this video.
This mob will not attack players or other mobs. The mob's main purpose would be to seek out manmade light. It will be drawn to any player-created lights within a 50x50 radius. Torches within a 20x20 radius of the creature will go out, beacons will shut off, active redstone will break. and lava will turn to cobble. Its presence will always lower light levels at least just enough to spawn monsters. These effects remain until the mob is killed, rendering mob spawn chances much higher. Its purpose is not to harm the player but eliminate the light protecting them. Within its range, once the lights are gone, hostile mobs will begin spawning at an above-average rate. Once the light in an area is gone, it will either seek out other nearby light sources in range or fade into the dark to lurk nearby, keeping the light dead. To restore the lights will require killing the mob. It can only be damaged by potions of healing or gold weapons. While lurking, it will randomly reveal itself to rush at the player. When it passes through the player, the screen will go momentarily black to disorient the player, creating risk of damage from spawning hostiles.
Why: Torches are plentiful. It's far too easy to light up a house or mine and be perfectly safe forever. This subverts that safety and adds a scare factor.
Why Not: redstone contraptions would be broken upsetting the community. You can only kill it with a potion or gold sword. It's super powerful. There is also a ton of programming that is needed. Shall I go on?
Hey guys, I have a BRILLIANT idea! It's this mob who breaks mob traps AND all your redstone stuff! So if it flies past your cool self-repairing bridge that looks like the On A Rail level in half-Life, you better watch out and re-do it, because it's now gone! Also it kills and eats your torches! And to make it all better? IT'S UNKILLABLE BY NORMAL MEANS!
Maybe it should be called the Will-o-Wisp. It kinda reminds of the one from Oblivion *shutters*.
Anyways, it should turn off lights in a shorter radius, I think 20x20 is a bit to much. How about 10x10.
Pass through any block...thats a tad bit over powered don't you think ?
Just don't make it so over powered, and maybe it could be reasonable.
Appearance: (Eyes should be more transparent)
Disposition: Passive-ish.
